I'm so sorry. I don't know what is wrong with me. There are no conflicts, nothing nor anyone drives me away from here, I just tend to drift off and not come back for years. Maybe burnt out on forums? IDK.

Saw a long-tailed weasel this morning on walk about. Cute creature and the one I saw had the white markings on its face, made it look a bit like a bandit. The tails are beautiful.

Also almost stepped on a small prairie rattler basking by the side of a gravel road. He noticed me about 10 seconds after I noticed him. I backed off a safe distance (~ 10 ft). He coiled and did his strike pose and rattled away. He was fairly small about 3 ft at most. We had a nice Mexican standoff for a few minutes. I wanted to observed him. Then I went about my business and he went about his. I hope he caught a nice breakfast.

rattlesnakes are cool creatures. luckily they seem to survive with people killing them everytime they see one.

in the cold periods they will go in a hole or small cave and ball up sometimes the balls of snakes can be many yards wide. i guess it keeps them warmer or gives some kind of protection. most snakes lose the ability to move around well and function when it gets below about 50 degrees out.

Ray, I don't know about Whitefish but it's been solid raining in Great Falls since yesterday. The forecast is more of the same for the next few days. Looks like it got here just in time.

its gonna need lots of rain to overcome the dry years and the extra hot summers we have been having. june in western mt. is the rainiest month of the year.
the trees have really been stressed out and ready to burn if it gets started around them.

the river in front of my house was the lowest ive seen it this winter ever. and not much of a run off will come this year with all the lower level snow long gone.

so it is with the weather.

i hope to get nearby there when i go fish the missouri around craig in about 3 weeks.
i either camp there or get a place in helena or g.f.

the deluge in northwest montana, has flooded some rivers and streets in town. not a big deal though unless you were one of the ones that got flooded. the extra water is needed and welcome in my book for sure.

the last few years i have been hearing a lot less of the bad beat poker stories players always want you to listen to. almost always it has been changed to make it more unlikely of an event.

few understand that its part of the game and has to happen frequently to you as you play more.

the bad part is some will even follow you around while you are trying to walk away and no stop yakking about the stupid hand.

when they can have likely two overs on you tend to not want to build early the pot with your pair especially out of position. you can do better getting away from it if the flop is bad for you, or charging them
on the times they didnt and have hit a smaller pair or a draw.
it is different against a passive player that wont take the pot away from you.

Saw a pair of these birds flying about the last two days. Very beautiful. And yes the name is real. You don't have to be an expert birder to enjoy the wonder of our flying friends. But having a good bird guide and pair a binoculars with you on walks or outings is useful and fun and you learn a thing or two besides.

cool zeno. most people just think of the large great birds. i love the smaller ones as well as they seem to have the most personality.
when at the coast i have a couple of thrushes that come out and follow me sometimes around looking for a handout.

i have about 50 bird houses out i bought or made and all seem to get nested in each year. its a pain to clean them all out once a year though.
some i get to see the birds like the swallows and chickadees.

start of summer weather here. lots of birds in the garden and swallows in the bird houses.
saw at least 6 beavers in the river tonight along with bald eagles and various other wildlife.
i love nature.

did do a dumb thing. i drained and flushed one of my hot water heaters and didnt get it completely filled before i threw the breaker back on. so of course it burned out one or both of the heating elements. i will have to replace them tomorrow i guess.
lucky i have a few bathrooms and separate water heater so no smelly me. :-)

Kinda surprising. I would think that if you had at least *some* water in there, the elements wouldn't burn out.
06-02-2016 , 05:05 PM
they burn out quickly if not covered in water. my lower element might be good. but might as well change it out anyway while i have it all drained and apart.

Almost asked you how old it was. Then re-read and realized that this was a silly question.

You might want to replace every single component while you are at it.

i got lucky and only the top element was shot so two screws and using channel locks remove and replace the element and back in business. all is well. ten minutes and ten bucks.

my pesky robin that comes to bang on the front window every year came back and built her nest again in the tree. so now every time i go out the front door she raises a big commotion. dont these birds ever learn :-)

soon the show will be on with her feeding the little ones. lucky for her its not far from my fruit trees which get watered every day so lots of worms for the kids.

i seem to think since the economy or at least where i am is booming, poker players are playing more loosely. also they have more money to play with. i dont see more bluffing but certainly more calling in the early part of the hands.
poker is more fun and easier because of this.

this week in portland oregon is the naked bike ride. it is a big event and the police let it go as it has become so big they cant control it. over 10,000 people go on it naked as a jaybird.

what the cops do is ask that they at least wear a helmet :-)

of course there are many on lookers for the event. i wonder why.

recently played in a small tournament and what was funny was that i came in 4th and never had a big pair or made a straight or flush or flopped trips.

goes to show you that tournaments are entirely different than cash game play.

So are you riding in it?

ha ha but i think its really cool. people are usually so up tight with things and something like this is refreshing to me.

of course portland is a very liberal city and has lots of alternative people there.
and so many people that live for enjoyment. that is a big reason it is growing so fast.

this is the fire season in the west and they are going full bore already. not as bad as the last couple years but still early in the season to expect anything but trouble.

my good friend sells fireworks for a living and last year most of his spots were banned because of the extremely dry june we had. this year he skated through okay with no banned sales. i am not a favorite of them shooting off anymore as ive seen too many people getting hurt and the fires and garbage left behind. however in a regulated spot it is fine and fun.

i hope every one had a great 4th of july in this country i live in. many younger people dont even know what it is really about. hope those that dont learn more about our history, the good and the bad.

i am wondering if since more players are three betting openers nowadays are you playing tighter early on or 4 betting more? not many people 4 bet out of position without a monster it seems.
