my last three small tournaments i have done rather poorly. either out quickly or around the money with not enough chips to do anything but shoot all in and hope no one calls.
that is the way it goes. you still have to get some hands and have them fall in the right spots to survive.

i was first out in the last one. i drew dead and got there and got broke. maybe i am starting to lose it. luckily it was only a 5 minute drive home.

well my drought ended kind of. i chopped it three ways last tournament.
i felt i would have won it but the third guy kept doubling up and made it even.
my strategy to get chips early or go home does work well. as i dont have to sit through hours of playing tight trying to advance a little. or course these are smaller tournaments so giving up some ev for low money finish for trying for first gets me home early or in good position.

up and down like a yo-yo. last two times i get it all in with a small edge and lose. thats okay as its part of the game.

these are fun tournaments for me as they are not big or have a big field to go through.
great bunch of guys and gals to play with and everyone has a good time. very few are serious and take it as being important.

summer is here and poker is slower of course so its best if you are giving up your golfing time for poker to find the best games to play in. usually most casinos have certain days and times where the games are good. so you have to be there then if you want a chance to win.

as most know i like fishing and its been awfulyl slow this year as the high water from all the rains we have had has made rivers very tough to fish or even impossible.
fishing in lakes has been fine though. but nothing is more fun than fishing in a river for trout or salmon.

hard struggle in a tourny today but managed to split it with a good player. lasted longer than usual for these events but fun even though i got a little tired as they start after dinner time.
only got all in twice. once on a bet all streets bluff, and once when 3 way with pair and flush draw.

i notice that more people are seemingly happy and i think it is because summer is finally here after the long wet winter.
it is not surprising to see the difference in how people act when the weather is good as opposed to it being crappy.
i like good.

watching the fireworks out my window tonight. now its bedtime. i can see over the whole valley and it seems like everyone there fires off sky rockets all night until morning.
a few locals have 20,000 dollar plus displays so it gets interesting.
montgana fireworks is legal so its a madhouse on the 4th.

i have coyotes nest at my place every year. this one no exception. they move the dens around and one spot is inn a culvert across the driveway. late night a few days ago three baby pups were standing and playing in the driveway. cute as can be about the size of a young cat.
mom must of been out hunting fawns this time of the year as the woods is full of them.

The USGS puts the odds of a volcanic eruption at 1 in 730,000. Even if an eruption were to occur, it would likely result in lava flow rather than a cataclysmic explosion. Though this would have an effect on Yellowstone, it would not bring about the end of the United States as we know it.

thanks. we were far enough away. it was the 8th biggest quake in Montana's history.

near by to it in lincoln they had some damage although not great, but a bunch of freaked out people.

Montana sounds so lovely - glad to hear everybody's okay after the earthquake!

as ive gotten older i have found i dont pay attention to the game as much. that i guess is just a natural occurrence we have to live with.
playing multiple games i sometimes, not often but sometimes forget and play the wrong game for awhile or even to the end.
much of it comes from not having the same desire to win as i did years back as the money or just winning doesnt mean much. poker is still as much fun but the outcome doesnt matter too much.

I agree. I think the reason young people think older people aren't good at poker is because they have mentally atrophied, but I think the emotional desire to win is as much the reason.

10 years ago I wanted to crush every living person at the table, make them go home and cry. I wanted to force the pros to have to quit and get a real job. I wanted wives to get into fights with their husbands for losing money. In essence, I wanted to destroy everyone completely.

Now, I'm totally nice and wouldn't want anything bad to happen to anyone else. Live and let live. I still try to take their money, but don't care for the suffering.

what i see even with decent players is that they have a hard time not losing extra money in omaha with great holdem hands. which of course in an omaha game may be marginal at times or worse.

It works both ways. I've seen guys who I knew had been good holdem players, but who had been playing nothing but omaha for a couple of years, throw away big hands because they weren't the nuts with nut redraws.

As I get older I find myself having to consciously review what game I'm playing and what I need to be doing every time the button passes the dealer.

Sadly, I was trying to win it, but didn't start campaigning in time. I guess it was just one of those days when I couldn't book a win...

It is hard to say. I can't recall typing that, so I'm going to assume I was drunk.

I was in bed in a hotel in Helena when it hit. It shook us pretty good. First earthquake I've ever been in. Reminded me of a train rumbling close by.
