Shohei, big deal...
The Dodgers will still have to win every game 9-8 because they have zero pitching
Player for player, I'll still take the Braves and at least they have 2-3 good pitchers.
If they can both keep from choking in the early rounds of the playoffs, maybe they'll meet in the NLCS.

I need more True Crime in my life. I stumbled on this video a few nights ago and had to watch the whole thing. Awful story that grows worse until the very end. Bruce Rivers is excellent.

why don't you commit to playing 30 hours and studying 10 hours each week for the next few weeks?

i don't know all the details, but it doesn't really feel like you ever put in a real effort at making it work

Not putting in hours has been an ongoing issue. I remember showing my parents what I would earn with Supernova Elite + a menial winrate. I ended up playing two days a week (albeit 20-tabling) and barely achieving regular Supernova. I am very, very aware there is an issue with work ethic.

I've "made it work" for me. I didn't reach my skill level without thousands of hours of play, just stretched over the course of almost two decades. I also did it mainly under the destitution of a treatment resistant mental condition. I am damn proud of what I've done to this point, despite leaving money on the table.

I'd like to think I can change this but it's probably not a reality. I was a hardcore slacker in school, I've always hated work, and I don't love challenging myself. I'm aware these are not admirable traits, but it is what it is.

I am open to hearing from the choir.

I have a keen eye for art and design. I didn't always, and maybe this suggests it can be learned.

There's a scene in Goodwill Hunting where Will reads into a little painting sitting on his therapist's shelf. Will, although brutally, correctly deduces he is mourning the loss of his wife.

Reading art (and numbers) is something I also do. I don't think it's particularly special, but it is a cool trait to have.

Let's visit the Dali museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, my treat. His work is impossible to put into words. I prefer silence anyway.

30 hours a week of play as a macro goal.

Map out the week Mon-Sun and do micro goals for each day to add up to 30 hours.

Perhaps:
Monday: Day Off
Tuesday: 4 hours
Wednesday: 4 hours
Thursday: 6 hours
Friday: 6 hours
Saturday: 6 hours
Sunday: 4 hours

Total: 30 hours

Adjust the above as you see fit. Could have Sunday as Day Off if you do primetime "Fri-Sat" days as 8 hours each (I'd recommend doing two 4 hours sessions each day, with at least a snack break in-between, to make it easier to achieve).

Why 30?

30 hours a week x 50 weeks = 1500 hours

You don't have to do 30 hours, it was a number thrown out there that if you did it with regularity you'd reach essentially full time poker hours for a year / prorated for part of a year.
You live in Vegas now and have very little commute to play poker. You have a wide array of casinos to choose from and play at. That's something you can take advantage of. A lot of people in this country would play more often but have 1+ hour commutes (each way) to their local casino.
If you can't do 30 hours, then imho don't aim for 30 hours. Do a macro goal that you believe you can achieve. Then micro-goal with specific daily plans on how you'll achieve your macro goal over the course of a typical week.

Lots of poker players become slackers (once the initial allure of poker wears off) and suffer from inconsistent volume. The way to combat this is by planning ahead, making a rough schedule of when you'll play, and well, sticking to it pretty much. I know that this is kind of antithesis to the whole be your own boss appeal and freedom aspect of playing poker. But it's like what Dusty Schmidt wrote about.. "Treat Your Poker Like a Business".

Also to not get overwhelmed with poker you can reserve most of your "poker study" to your off day/s.

Nice reply.

I was thinking it could be good to accrue a week's sample. And then attempt to play a couple more hours the following week.
