Nothing planned, but have considered squeezing in a 1/2 before year-end. Next Full will be Fall 2018. You?

Yeah I'm 3 weeks into another 18 week marathon plan. Hoping to do the Jacksonville marathon in December. Got two 5Ks this month, two 10Ks next month and a half marathon in Pensacola in November leading up to it. Not in the same shape I was last year, I didn't run for almost 3 months earlier this year and I'm about 25 lbs heavier. I've got my long run back up to 12 miles but it's a struggle in this damn heat.

Don't know how you manage to run in the FL heat regularly. That's awesome that you're doing another Full, good luck and stay safe this weekend.

Thanks, made it thru the storm ok and didn't miss any scheduled runs. The first 5K I was gonna do got postponed but I did one this morning in 27:58. About 2 minutes off my PB but I'm quite happy with the results. I feel like I'm making great progress and my long run is up to 16 miles now with an 18 and 20 miler coming up in the next few weeks.

It's been a busy few weeks. We put our house on the market last weekend and spent the 2-3 weeks beforehand fixing everything we've put off for the last 10 years. No luck yet, but we've had at least 1 showing every day so hopefully we'll have some offers coming our way soon.

Scott congratulations on the lucky 7 anniversary all the running and training is impressive. Running a full marathon has always been a goal of mine although nearly all of my running has taken place in team sport settings. Any recommendations on a cheap mid level running shoe?

Thanks! Much appreciated. I've stuck with Brooks Ghost and really like them. I try and switch them out every 400-500 miles.

For the 3 people that check this blog semi-regularly, the 2+2 app doesn't work on my phone anymore so I haven't logged on in over a month. This time of year is always the toughest to maintain a semi-healthy lifestyle and I've definitely been struggling. My running hasn't missed a beat, but I've been eating like crap. Weighed in Monday morning at 204 (yikes), but had a solid week and was 202 yesterday, going to put in an effort to make sure I end the year under 200.

Quick update from my 2 month hiatus:

I ate horribly all Dec. and ended the year at 211. Good start to 2018 though as I weighed in at 201 yesterday. My running hasn't missed a beat, so I just need to focus on maintaining my current healthier eating habits. It's always easiest with the start of the year weight loss adrenaline, so my biggest hurdle will be sticking with it.

Weighed in at 203 last week, just need to make a few eating habit changes and I can get myself back to a healthier weight and a healthier overall state. Positive note, I'm running plenty and really looking forward to finishing the CPA Exam later this year so I can schedule my next marathon. Due to time constraints I'm having to limit my "long" Saturday run to 8 miles, which has been frustrating.

Weighed in last week at 202, still struggling with eating, but running plenty. Most of my time is taken up with work, studying for the CPA exam, and following up with our realtor about the house we're having built. As far as the exam, I get my score for FAR in 2 weeks and I'm taking AUD in 4 weeks, wish I hadn't dragged it out this long, but life happens.

I haven't watched many movies this year, haven't even been making it to the block-busters. My wife and I have plowed through quite a few shows though. Currently "enjoying" The Handmaid's Tale. Just finished The Americans, will definitely miss it, probably in my top 10 all-time, at least top 15. Looking forward to Sneaky Pete S2 and Bosch S4 next.

My other current hobby is Guns of Glory, it's a war alliance cell phone game that doubles as a money making scam. I'm hooked on it, but refuse to invest more than a few $20 purchases here and there, so I'm not the strongest player, but it's definitely fun and I'm hooked.

Gotta get back to studying, hopefully I'll post again in less than 3 months and I'll try to put together a YTD movie list at some point.

I doubt anyone is still subscribed to this, but just randomly thought about it so decided to log-in and update after a 3 year hiatus.

I'm still running 3-4 miles Mon-Thur with a longish run on Saturdays. No races on the horizon, but I really want to find one in driving distance for this Winter to get my motivation and miles back to Marathon range.

I'm still sober, it will be 11 years in Sep. as long as I stay the course.

I made some diet changes 1.5 years ago and have stuck with them. We discovered I have EOE, so I did a simplistic version of an elimination diet and ended up completely cutting out dairy and gluten. It was rough at first, but it's routine at this point. I haven't weighed in recently, but I'm in the 175-180 range these days.

If anyone happens to read this I hope you're doing well and I'd say there's a 20% chance I decide to start blogging again. Plenty to talk about, just not sure if it's super interesting/worth writing about, but we'll see.

Life update time! Seems unlikely anyone will see this, but what the heck, a lot going on so figured I'd share.

- I celebrated 12 years sober a couple weeks ago
- I stayed around the same weight and exercise levels from my last post through the 1st half of 2022
- A few months ago I finally made a commitment to eating significantly less processed food and more vegetables and fruit
- I've also increased my training and finally added strength and stability exercises to my routine, so hopefully my 3rd marathon (Nov. 5) will be my best yet
- I currently weigh 163 and my body seems to be responding well to carrying less weight, my knee hasn't bothered me once in the last 6ish weeks (knock on wood) and overall I'm feeling great
- I'm proud of all these changes, but knowing my addictive self the true test will come after the marathon when the excitement/addictive rush starts to fade. I'm hoping the saving grace will be that I'm placing an emphasis on finding healthier meals that I truly enjoy
- Most excitedly, I'm planning on my first ultra marathon (52.9 mile trail race) in late April! I have a long way to go on the training and especially on trail training, but I'm super excited to pursue it

A few other misc. tidbits:

- I took a new job at a much smaller company a year ago and so far it's been the best move of my career. It's a growing company and a challenging role, but moving from a high stress, climb the ladder environment to working for one of the best leaders I know has done wonders for my happiness and provided valuable additional free time. I despise playing the political game, and with each promotion it had become a larger chunk of my job. To date, those games are non-existent within my current company, which is a true blessing.

- The inspiration behind my Ultramarathon goal came from a few fantastic books I've read over the last 3-4 months, I highly recommend each of these:
- Reborn on the Run - Catra Corbett
- Finding Ultra - Rich Roll
- Born to Run - Christopher McDougall
