TL;DR my terrible acting skills got me paid off today - I love tourists.
My #rungood continued today and my overall results are back in positive territory
On the days I play, I've settled into a little routine. I bill some hours in the morning with my clients. I have lunch at my favorite Thai place where the waitresses are cute and they know I'm a good tipper. And as I'm finishing up my Thai ice tea, I bring up Bravo Poker and see what's rolling where. It's a good routine and gets me focused to play.
I saw that the Mirage had at least two 1-2 tables going so I headed over there. I bought in for $200 and sat down. It was only then that I noticed that $200 made me the big stack. Most players didn't even have $100 in front of them and the two other big stacks were all less than $220. So I don't know what happened there, but this was not a good thing. A quick check with @Natamus confirmed that I should find another game!
Even though it is hotter than heck (and even a little humid) today I decided to walk over to the Venetian. It's good for my fat butt to get some exercise in and it got my heart rate going a little bit.
Venetian was a much better game but a little nitty. I was there with at least 2 other grinders and I wasn't sure about the other one. Keep in mind this is around 1PM, so still a little early to take advantage of the tourists.
But, all I need is one loose tourist and I got him! Nothing happened for basically the first three hours I was there - I folded tons of hands and I only stole a few of them, keeping me right around $200.
In the BB I woke up with AQs and four limpers into me. I would usually raise in this spot, but I think I was fumbling with my headphones or something so I just checked.
The flop came down a beautiful AQQ
That's my second time this week flopping the monster nuts.
We checked around on the flop. Turn brought a 9, I check, all fold to MidPosition who makes it $10, button makes it $20. At that point, it's lights, camera, action - I turn on the Hollywood and tank a bit, about a minute or so. I even repeated the action, "wait, wait, who bet? And then he raised? gee, golly, $20 to go, huh?" and I'm pointing to the people as I go.
Guys, if I ever start repeating the action like some fawking rookie in front of you, just fold, that's all just my poor acting skills.
I decided to just smooth call, just
begging that MP would raise or at least call - he folded, unfortunately. So I'm now HU with the button.
River comes a blank. I'm first to act and I didn't want to risk the button just checking. So I make a bet for $40 - just throwing some chum in the water, really. Button almost immediately makes it $100, I shove and he snap calls. He turns over trip queens with a weak kicker.
As I turn over, I tell him, "I flopped it" and he seemed shocked. I guess I didn't give off a vibe that said that AQ was in my range?!?! Anyways, he doubled me up and that was that . . . a good day.
Just prior to this hand, a cute lady sat next to me. However, she was also wearing a ton of perfume. I've always had sensitive sinuses and I didn't want to risk getting a headache from that perfume. So I decided to leave instead - but still a good session.
