Rejection isn't easy, even if you know it has nothing to do with you or your potential performance.
Isn't there a big upside to working for the government? Lots of days off and steady work?

Yes, those are some of the upsides. Plus I don't think you work all that hard. The downside is I'd have a real boss and I wouldn't be free to swan off to lunch with friends on weekdays. I'd also have to start earlier and finish later.

Retirement benefits are a consideration. 20 years working for the queen and you can draw a full pension (that's how it works here, at least. Except for the queen part). You'd be like 40.

No no no, it's not lower pay than I make now, it's roughly the same, but I figured before applying that to give up my freedom id want more money. Erm, the pension benefits I don't think are anything special, and I'd have to pay extra for it anyhow, so that isn't something I'm considering. Paid holidays are a nice benefit tho.

That's what I took away from that too. What drugs would you suggest? I'm quite a good drunk, only problem is I very quickly go from happy go lucky drunk to depressed self loathing drunk.

So, I did not get that job. I could claim that I had decided I didn't actually want it anyway, but you probably wouldn't believe me, no matter how true it was. Either way, I'm happy to keep things as they are, change is scary.

Still looking forward to trying a drug this weekend. Haven't found where to buy it though. They don't sell the fun kind at tesco.
