But who's going to finish the game?!?

Thanks, UnoTrap. You know there's a real city here by San Antonio called China Grove, like in that Doobies song. The people don't look to the East though; they're just normal Texans like me. Probably very few Asian residents at all. Kick-ass song though!

Uno, you want to respond to some of your OOT critics here? You've been catching some heat in there.

Speaking for myself, I think you're quirky and off-beat, and that your posts have some merit.

Sorry if it sounds blunt, but I don't really care to discuss them. However, I do appreciate your defense of me Kioshk. I'm more pissed off about my song in the "rate the song before you" thread being skipped!

That's catchy, I've never heard it. He was Linda Ronstadt's longtime collaborator, I believe.

I've posted this elsewhere on the site but I'm also hoping for answers from the House of Blogs crowd.

What percentage of men do you feel are pressured into having children? Were you pressured into having children yourself? Tell us about it.

It feels like a lot of the time men aren't too bothered about whether they have kids or not, but it's damn hard to find a decent woman who doesn't want children. It's almost as if we have to have them if we want a long-term relationship.

Do you view men without children as pathetic? I'm hoping that there will be a lot of diverse opinions in this thread, and a few anecdotal stories.

I wanted to have children. I have two and I was 31 when my first was born.

I don't view people without children as pathetic.

How could she possibly troll you? Did she hate puns? Or are you a different person in politics/pog or wherever else you post that I don't go?

I'd say I have a higher profile in POG than in OOT. But it was more about this poster than about me. This poster could easily find someone worthy of vicious attack in an empty room.

Uno, I'd say the number of men who are pressured into having children against their will is fairly low. I certainly don't think less of men or women who don't have children.

I think men who don't want children are very likely to respond to serious pressure by leaving their wives. Or just arguing so much that divorce becomes inevitable.

In my 20s I made up my mind that I was okay either way - that is, if the woman I married wanted kids I was fine with that, just as I'd have been content without kids if she didn't want them.

After our first I raised the idea of stopping there, but we didn't and I'm really glad about that, so the one piece of advice I'd be comfortable giving to others is to not stop at one, especially if you have both within 2-3 years so they're somewhat age matched.

I know of one couple who is intentionally childless, and they're pretty much loving life. One of them quit their grind job upon turning 35 and started a dream side business. They travel frequently, save abundantly, and plan to retire at or around age 50. But it's definitely not for everybody.

People who are thinking of marriage should have the conversation about having children often. How many? How soon? How often? If one wants kids and the other really doesn't or doesn't know, I don't see long term success for the relationship. People need to know the long term ramifications of becoming a parent, that it's a lifetime commitment. If someone is childless, it's probably for a good reason. People will conjecture that selfishness may be the motive; but really, who would want to be the child of a parent who didn't want them? Wouldn't it be better if the parent is not pressured to breed to avoid criticism?

I have 2 younger siblings. My dad never wanted the 3rd. He found out my mom cheated on him, was in the process of leaving her, and voila, she gets pregnant with my youngest sister. He went and got a vasectomy the day after he found out she was pregnant. Luckily my sister doesn't know and she's the spitting image of my dad, so no problems there.

Crazy women have a way of mysteriously becoming pregnant when they suspect their spouse will leave them.
