150 Zombeavers (first watch)

★★½

Goofy horror that starts well, starts to go downhill into cliche and boring dialogue and bad acting, but picks itself up nicely for the last act. Not scary, but has its moments, especially in that last act.

Liked the ending credits song.

151 Kingsman: The Secret Service 2015 (first watch)

★★★★

Fantastic and fantastical spy caper, the first really fun one in a very long time, which takes that silly side of spy movies and weaves it into an exciting and charming movie that is thoroughly entertaining.

I hope it is the first of a new age of spy movies that embrace the fun side of the genre which has been rather dour and intense since the genre was thoroughly sent up in Austin Powers.

152. Big Hero 6 2014 (first watch)

★★★½

Fun animation, with a well put together story and beats. Recommended.

153. The Devil Rides Out 1968

★★★★½

Wonderful offering from Hammer that somehow recalls the best of 30s and 40s horror (White Zombie, Black Cat, Cat People), with Lee giving one of his finest performances, this time as the stern good guy leading an intrepid band against satanists.

The effects don't hold up too well, but a fine script and performances from all concerned make that a trifling matter.

154. Age of Consent 1969 (first watch)

★★★

A meandering film that doesn't have any core story other than an artist gets his mojo back because of his muse, but that's a secondary plot driver really - it's just a wandering look at the day to day life of an artist in some sleepy aussie island backwater. Not great, but has enough to keep you interested.

155 Terminator 2: Judgment Day 1991

★★★★½

Still a truly fantastic, well-put-together action movie, probably in the top 5 action movies ever, runs slickly and neatly, stays coherent within its own defined logical universe, and still has time for heart, and charm. A really great entry into the Terminator franchise.

156 Captain Clegg 1962 (first watch)

★★★

Fun, goofy pirate/smuggler adventure made by Hammer, and retaining all the feel of the Hammer gothic horrors. Very enjoyable, with Peter Cushing playing a major role, and some fun, shocking scenes.

157 Frankenstein Conquers the World 1965 (first watch)

★★★

Goofy kaiju with some terrible greenscreen, mad ideas, but a lot of energy and fun. A strange mishmash of straight kaiju and Western monsterdom.

158 Godzilla 2014

★★★★

Very fun when the action gets going, and tense in places, it nonetheless suffers a little with some slow sections. I do like the internal logic of the movie, but it's a shame that Brian Cranston, the most electric of performers in this, wasn't in it for that long.
