I have been playing poker for just over two years. More seriously about 6 months. I have a 3 year old daughter and as of two days ago a son. I love poker and my dream as like many is to make enough to support my family from playing. Having just one 3 year old I found it difficult to study and play as would like because of being there for her (feeding bathing bonding ect..) now with the new addition to the family I find it almost impossible to have any focus on the game. Is it just me? Am I making excuses? Do I not have enough focus to manage both sides? Or is the reality of the matter that my poker dreams may never come true? Should I set up a better set schedule? Be more disciplined? I'm lost at the moment confused as to what my next step might be...

Even if you could spend a few hours a day on poker, trying to support your family playing poker these days is a terrible plan. Ten years ago, sure, but now, starting to play poker more seriously with the goal of supporting your family is most likely not going to work. Poker is a great hobby, but a horrible way to try to make a living.

Don't sacrifice time with your children. I mean you can play poker later, you can always earn more money, but this time will never come back.

I have a full time job, I just don't see how I can spend the time to really improve my game given my situation. Maybe it's something to just look foward to in the future.

I stopped playing after I had a couple of thousand dollars stolen from accounts on two different iPoker skins and neither of the sites or the eWallet would do anything to help me get my money back.

Do you play online or life? Are you profitable now? Do you realize, that after you invest enough time and effort to be able to make enough, you could start hate poker? I mean I don't want to talk you out of it. If you want it, then you want it. I only have the impression, that you have slightly distorted view of poker.

I am playing just for fun, and in last year continuously less and less. If you want, look here for posts from z4reio and dgiharris. z4reio plays/played professionally and wrote pretty realistic, what does it mean. The story from dgiharris is open ended. He claimed to play professionally. If he did or not, is not clear. But he was very active here. Gave a lot of advice and no one knows what part of it is true and what not. The only guy here, who has apparently made some money in poker, and states, that poker is fun is Ray Zee. He has also a blog here. For everyone else, who plays really for living, poker is hard work. At least I didn't read here anything else.

I play both live and online at acr. Don't play as much as I would like because of work and the kids. But I have deff did the research as to the edification it takes to actually become profitable in the long run. I love the game I really do, and would would to be able to play more. I will look into those threads as well. I love studying the game and talking about it as well
