1/2 & 1/3 are fine as a means to an end in a poker player's progression. One can make ~$20-$30/hour while greatly reducing risk of ruin.

For a lot of people it is difficult to find a job paying that well that they actually somewhat enjoy.

Someone without a family to support & with low overhead can easily live comfortably...if they put in the hours & if they're actually good at poker.

The rake on those daily tournaments just seems insanely high. I assume you'd only play them for a laugh.

The "Accommodation" industry was the #2 low-wage employer, and I assume most of these workers are tipped, but the report doesn't specify whether or not they count tips into the wage.

Blazin, if you can figure out Twitch and your Twitch name made it clear you are female, you would instantly have a large audience--probably top 5 poker Twitch feed every time you were on, as the most popular are always well known poker pros followed by any woman broadcasting. You would also gets lots of rude comments and people offering to have sex with you.

So here's the story

I leave my house at 7:30 to take the bus to Wynn. It was my first time taking the bus by myself in awhile, but it wasn't so bad

I was planning to meet up with a friend to blaze and then go play at Venetian with the intention of going back to Wynn later to enjoy my chocolate milk while I played for a few hours.

So I waited patiently for 20 minutes after he said he'd be there in 5. I called twice, but he didn't pick up so I just started walking to Venetian. He calls me as I get over the Palazzo bridge saying he's at Wynn registration so we met up and decided to go smoke on the top of Venetian parking garage. The elevator only goes to the 10th floor, but when we walked into the stairwell there was a key card locked gate to the roof access. We were just going to blaze there, (why not right?) but as soon as my friend handed me the J, one of the managers and 2 EMT trainees walked in.

Manager says "What are you doing in here?"

I responded with "Are we not allowed to be in here" Then he asks for no reason "Are you doing a drug deal?"

The weed was never lit, but the manager says "I smell weed," puts handcuffs on my friend and says "If you have anything tell me now because we will find it. Put her in handcuffs too." and the EMT puts me in handcuffs. I said I had a joint, told the truth, and I really think that definitely helped my situation because I had nothing else on me and no priors.

We both get walked to security where my bag and I were searched on camera with audio.

They called metro and ran my ID, when metro got there it was one male officer.

Now, I'm pretty sure only a female officer is allowed to search me, but this officer was like "I'm gonna search you now".

For what reason is he searching me again? I had been in handcuffs for 2 hours at that point, and had already been searched. He patted me down, then put his hand in my pocket but when he went to pat my chest I told him not to touch my chest because there was no way he was allowed. He asked why and I said because he was a man, at which point he responds with "Why does that bother you?" I said "because I'm a girl and I don't know you." So he just let me sit back down.

For the next half hour after that I was praying that I could just go play poker. I felt like it was pretty surreal, I mean honestly it's a shame that I was in handcuffs for pot. I told the Universe that I wouldn't even drink 1 beer all night if I got to leave with my dignity still intact.

Finally the officer said he wasn't going to write me up for the weed, but if I am ever caught on their property then I'll immediately be arrested. I signed my warning ticket, then he gave me the pink slip. Three of the security walked me off the property, and I went straight to Wynn.



Got to Wynn around 11:30, and sat down at the 1/3. I feel like I played solid, I took notes on some hands during my session. I played until 4:30ish I think. Talked about a few hands with my friend and his friend (JJvsQQ guy) then went home.

Made it $10 with 55 UTG, mp &sb call, bb folds. Flop comes 467xxd, sb bets $10 and I raise it to $20 (thinking I should have made it closer to $30.) He calls. Turn is 8d, he bets $20, I raise to$40, he says raise and I just put all my chips in and flip, he slow rolls 45 for a chop.

Same guy busts me JJ<QQ.
He makes it $20 on the button, I flat in bb. Flop is like 762 or something, I bet like $25 and he puts me all in for like $80 more and I call putting him on 8s-Ts, or over cards and his range on the button was pretty wide playing like 6/7 handed.

I limp after UTG with 77, w/mp&sb, bb checks. Comes K88ddx, it checks to me I bet 8 and UTG calls. He check calls $11 on 9x turn (could probably bet more here?) then cc blank on river and I was good, guy said he was on a flush and missed.

I limp w/AhTd UTG+1 hj limps, bb checks. Flop comes AJ4hhx. bb bets 10, I raise to 20 hj folds and bb calls. We both check the heart on the turn, and river comes Qh. He checks, I bet $25 and he open folds J4, I show for top pair and back door flush to make him feel better

I only played one buy in, and I feel like I'm gonna try to study double time and maybe play online more this next week until WSOP.

As a side note, pretty sure I'm just playing at Wynn when I do play live. Don't like any of the other rooms anywhere near as much as I like Wynn.

As for your hands played, all of your bet sizing is way too small. Like the first hand, when he bets $10 on 467, what is your reasoning for making it $20?

In the JJ<QQ hand, not saying you should have folded for what sounds like a ~35bb pot, but assigning ranges is not "putting him" on all these hands you can beat. Like you said you thought his range was 88-TT and AK, AQ type stuff... Why do you not assign a range of 88+? Surely all pairs larger than yours are in there if 88-TT is.

In your ATo hand. Just fold that in early position. Its a garbage hand. And also again, when he bets $10 and you min raise it, what is your reasoning for that size?

Your story about the Venetian is unfortunate. I don't smoke pot, but I don't have a problem with other people getting high if that's what they want to do.

I think you could have played your cards better when they stumbled upon you in the stairwell. It doesn't sound like you were actively smoking or had drugs in plain view of them (or did i misunderstand this?). Couldn't you have just said you were going to the roof to get a good view of the strip? Just because the stairwell smells like pot doesn't mean it was yours. When cops/security think someone has broken the law but can't prove it they usually talk to them and try to get them to incriminate themselves. I don't think they have any right to detain or search you before you admitted you had drugs in your possession. Of course they will say or imply that it will help you, because they want you to talk.

I also think it was inappropriate for a male officer to pat you down. Given you admitted to having drugs I'm not surprised they 86'd you. Hopefully this experience will cause you to be more careful in the future. If you keep taking these risks at the Wynn (or even worse, at a Ceasars property, since Ceasars owns half the strip and the WSOP is at the RIO) you may find you have nowhere else to play in Vegas.

On the bright side, if you get barred from all Vegas casinos TBC would probably be willing to show you around Reno.

Unfortunate in the V banning but really when you break laws expect to get arrested sometimes. Seems like a poor choice on where to "blaze". Not that I haven't made similar poor choices. It is what it is and expect to get arrested sometimes.

Good hand analysis above. I agree completely though I often am raising with ATs depending on table dynamics. Folding is fine. I don't really get what's going on with all the minraises.

So the reason I was limping in EP with **** Ax hands was because as soon as I sat down in seat 4, there were two fairly passive nitty kids that were opening pre and check folding for half pot if they missed the flop in seat 1&2, then seat 3 showed me his hendon mob(lol) with a WPT win and he was pretty drunk so I figured most of these hands I could out play them If I got in for a limp. Been trying to work on my range, I'll limp 3bet a lot sometimes too to see where I'm at preflop especially if I'm OOP... so that ATo hand was in my early limping range lol
