Looking forward to updates about life in Vegas and what it leads too. Good luck! I'm rooting for you!

My goodness.

This was heart-wrenching to read. As I said on Twitter, not really surprising, I was certainly reading this between the lines in your tweets. But to read the details was actually very tough for me. It was more (i.e, rougher) than I imagined.

You've had a real tough time until now, and the road ahead will be extremely difficult. The odds are against you, I'm sorry to say. But....it's not like you're drawing to a one-outer. You can do it, with the proper support. I sure as hell hope you that you do.

You have a wonderful sense of humor, which is why I started following you in the first place. And as others pointed out already, your post here is extremely well-written. It is actually shocking that someone who apparently has so little formal education could write so well. You could actually write professionally--although I should warn you--and I know--it's tough making a living that way!

Now I am more glad than ever that I recognized you at PH and took the risk of saying hello and introducing myself to you. I only wish we had been able to chat some more. Hopefully, we can do that in future.

I was also happy to see that you enjoyed my brief mention of meeting you on my blog. As you know, that was also the day I first met The Trooper, so it was quite a day.

So, good, good luck in getting everything together. It will be quite the challenge, but with your spirit, I think you can do it.

Wish you the best and not here to ruin the party but I think you must proceed with caution in this town given your tumultuous history. Don't get me wrong I love living here but grinding is stressful and I see many people succumb to previous vices ect. I'm sure we'll run into each other often, gl in your goals.

subscribed. Do you have a Vlog? Or will this be the only place for updates?

And yeah I agree with the English prof. You are a good writer. You should think about pursuing that. My buddy is a prof At UNLV

I usually play 1/2-1/3.. can't afford to grind higher or put nearly enough hours in on the felt. After 8 sessions and 22 hours (obviously too short) I'm (+305)

I've only been playing for about 2 years. I initially moved to California in 2013 from Baltimore, and was working as a hostess at my friends 5/5 home game where I met my ex, he was a prop player for several of the bigger NLH & PLO games hosted in SFV. He taught me how to play while I sat behind and watched, which on top of being addicted to reading card player and getting on pokernews is how I progressed rather quickly. When we separated I was offered a stake as a prop player by the same games I learned to play in, where I would play 15-20 hour NLH&PLO sessions until the game broke.

I came to the Vegas for WSOP last year and supported myself mostly by sports betting and Blackjack (I was more of a degen last year). I did that from mid-May until the end of June. I lost all of my logs from last year though and never did the math. At the end of the series I went home to Visit my family and started playing online. I joined some wizards for WSOPC Biloxi and afterwards I managed to improve my game by grinding 15hrs a day for a few months on Bovada while staying with family. I was doing well until I spewed playing higher than the micro right before I went back to California where I picked up playing live again Jan/Feb before I came here. I played 53hrs, 10 sessions and I'm (-55) for those 2 months in California that I played.

I still have a lot to learn about this game, but I think my potential is there if I'm able to be honest about everything that effects how I play the game

I've always enjoyed writing, in its many forms. Before I dropped out completely I used to dream about being an English prof. So I am flattered

That was kinda cool, kinda funny how that happened P

I appreciate the kind words, even more motivation to beat the odds. It's a walk in the park at this point, I'm pretty proud of my ability to maintain consistency since taking that 6 month hiatus from life

TLDR. Actually I read the first half before deciding TLDR.

Good luck though, you do seem like a smart person, so if you put in the effort you'll be able to beat the 1/2 and 1/3 games.

I lived off and on in Vegas for nearly 10 yrs. Its a trip and look forward to living there again.

Im subbed and will chime in to support where I can.

There are some good, fun people in Nevada Poker League (search on Facebook). Good training ground vs. Fish.

Hey Amanda,

Nice start to an LV Blog. Good for you for sharing your story. It was a good read. I generally prefer to read brief trip reports that show the degeneracy and debauchery for which I enjoy LV, but I can firmly say "subscribed".

I'll follow your life down there; best of luck in everything you do. If you want to take someone's money between the 18th and 21st at the tables, I'll be down there living the lifestyle you're avoiding (so maybe not a great idea haha).

Anyways, I listened to this following video last night and it caused me to get up today without hitting the snooze button for the first time in my life.

Cue: Stupid inspirational video

Looking forward to your stories. Go get it!

I flew to California in December, then from California I came here with a friend and just stayed. Do you have a more specific question? Lol
