Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

i’m so over it. I dont like making posts like these, but depression and anxiety arent fun. I have been battling hard for a year now and sometimes you just run out of energy. There are good days and then other days when everything just catches up with you and it’s hard to take a breath. Feeling crappy for no reason is hard to explain to people who dont know. Trying to pretend like you’re not feeling crappy so you dont alienate anymore people in your life is even harder.

It's not super severe yet but I can feel myself slipping. Last week was super stressful but my anxiety seems better at least. The good news is I know there are people out there that care about me and that's comforting, because a lot of the time it doesn't feel that way.

I hope things start to improve for you soon. I think that is one of the key things I try and hang onto when depression kicks in hard is that it will pass. Wearing a happy mask or even just a neutral one is exhausting I agree. Are there things you have done in the past that have helped you? Having some strategies at hand is always a good thing. Take care J.

Hugs!

You are long enough in this to not give you any advice. But ... This thing that VR is doing. I am also doing it to big extend. A todo list for small stuff and checking off the items on it. It gives one the feeling of control and accomplishment, and that in turn reduces the anxiety.

This post is one of the big differences between JM and MLYLT. JM.

pretty sure you don't like me, but put me down for #teamjmakin too.

and how you put depression, that it's hard to explain to people that "I don't want to be bothered and no, I don't really know why" is a sharp way of putting it. especially when followed with, "but I have to try to put on a show so I don't alienate even more people"...

feel you.

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

hey thanks guys I really appreciate it a lot, believe me.

wiper, lol, i don't dislike you, idk where you're getting that vibe from but I'm really sorry if I made it seem that way. My posting has a sarcastic bite to it sometimes that waxes and wanes depending on my levels of stress. the saltier i am usually the more stressed i am.

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

I got an 81% pre-curve on the midterm I thought I bombed. Idk how that happened but I'm sure my therapist will find it absolutely hilarious for some reason, she always laughs at my test scores.

my anxiety is being handled much better this quarter, and I'm in pretty positive spirits for no good reason today. Looking forward to this week even though more projects are looming.

i guess I feel good because I got through the first major hurdle with bad study habits, without much effort while also having a bad mental state.

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

Also changing my mental attitude to rather than trying to ace every course, I'm just trying to pass every course and setting the bar down there. My therapist always chides me about how I place my self standards at 2 or 3 sigmas above the mean, when I really should just compare myself to the mean.

So when I get an 81% on a test I was just trying to pass, I'm really elated because I did better than expected and if I had the other mindset, I would've been super pissed off that I didn't get a high B+ or an A. Seems like I accidentally adopted this better mindset in the last few months. My therapist is really good
