I think you have a serious case of First World Problems. I hope your travels put that into perspective for you.

I'm leaving to break many things inside of me, I agree.

However, Europe is not living a "First World problems". Europe is really sick these days and will not get back on its feet anytime soon

A friend of mine went to Damascus and loved it. I thought about visiting Muscat as well, I've been told this is a little gorgeous city.

Right now I'm just waiting for my 2 debit cards and my backpack to come. Once I get them, I will leave.

Yea agreed..

It is said that the crack is mostly the reason why Muricans hold such disdain for foreigners. Apparently , one of the Philistines that snuck over on one of the boats rang it when it was drying or something. Broke the ****. Needless to say, that started trouble round the way.

This is also around the time ghettos and gangs started to form as urban sprawl was in its infancy. Also, roughly the same time, they say the name Philistine was turned derogatory and used to describe the poor. Cheesesteaks weren't around until a little later.

haha !

OMG that thread ! A world traveler ! I'm gonna read your thread and for sure will have some questions if you don't mind !

@ others :

Don't know what 1st world problem is. I'm just unhappy in Paris. Life sux here. Besides, I don't feel like my day to day life brings me fullfilment. I need something else even if I couldnt point out what. My life is very well set up, everything's fine and I could live this way until I die, but I would have too many regrets at the end of this human journey. I dont want to die with regrets, I feel like I have to go away, to put myself outside of my comfort zone, to be challenged. And I know that hitting the road is all but simple and that there will be tough moments. I'm not thinking that all is gonna be sunshine and rainbows. When I lived in the amazon jungle for a whole month with no electricity, not hot water, no cellphone, no internet, no contact with the outside world, it was tough at the start but eventually became an awsome experience (I went there to drink the Ayahuasca). I was the only one westerner with no one to talk to and lived in dire conditions. I loved it ! When I got back home I felt so bad because I could feel all the people's anger, fears, stress to a point that it physically hurt me (like an arrow). I understood that we're not living well in our "1st world universe" inspite of all the comfort that we have.

Living a 9/5 job all day, running all day, working my ass out to always earn and save money is NOT what life is all about. But this is how most of westerner do live because life has besome really tough. Of course if you put to my face how haitian live it could get the feeling that we - westerners living in the "1st world" - have become spoiled kids and that in some parts of the world people are dying. But guess what, they're dying on the streets in Paris as well. You have so many bums and poor people here that nobody helps, it is a shame and even more because France does have money compared to Haiti. What a mascarade. I thought about going abroad and volunteer as well because I've always helped people all my life. Don"t know if I'm gonna do it but for sure I'm gonna live close to all the populations I'm gonna meet.

Life is a game and I love life. I want to play this game fully and just doing my day to day job is not what makes me enjoy fully what this life has to offer.

Op, you said you already quit your job and sold your apartment, and want to be free and spontaneous, but then you said you arent leaving for a month and a half. WTF? Leave tomorrow! Or are you worried you need 45 days to finish planning your spontaneous trip?

Hello buddy,

No need to be sarcastic, If I say that I'm leaving in 1,5 month, there is a reason and I'm very pleased to explain to you :

My appartement IS sold but the final contract (here in France you sign 2 contracts and there is a 3 months time frame between each of them) will be signed in 2 weeks (very end of december).

I have still not received my bank cards and here it takes a while to get them. I even made a 4th call to one of them this afternoon but they're so slow, omg !

So I have to spend this awaiting time at my father's house and as soon as I have received them then I will be able to leave. With no bank cards, it will be quite difficult to world travel. Makes sense ?

My bad. I should have put a yellow smiley face to show I was kidding and distinguish it from a blue sarcastic face. Though I admit I had no idea you have to sign contracts three months apart before a sale is final. Seems odd to me, so I took your statement to mean it was sold, as in done.

On another note, I've traveled in around 35 countries, and it's a great experience, seeing other cultures and ways of life. It definitely has the potential to change your perspective on a lot of things. But it likely wont really add any sense of meaning to your own life. No matter what one does, after a while it becomes routine and boring. After spending a few years where I was often away from home for 250-300 days a year, traveling all around, my attitude changed from "wow, a new city again" to "another hotel room in another ****ty city" and I began dreaming of a life where I could stay in one place, put down roots and establish relationships.

So I think you will enjoy what will turn out to be an extended vacation, but Dont be surprised if you dont find the secret to happiness on your travels. Good luck though, and have a safe trip.

^ Good post. Extended travel can be very rewarding and I recommend it to anybody who has the luxury to do it. But in the end, there's nothing really out there. I think that's the important lesson you learn.

Interesting point of view, thank you.

I've always wondered how travelers like Gabriel (he has a YT channel) or that older guy ("the hobo traveler) who both spent 17+ years traveling the world could do it.

How long did it take you to start feeling traveling the world as a grind ?

Nothing against you traveling plans, but it doesn't sound like your location is the issue.

Do you really think that one decides to throw out of the window his entire life and travel the road for some undetermined lenght of time just for fun ?
