I've decided to quit everything and travel the world I've decided to quit everything and travel the world

Hi all,

I'm on the verge of the biggest journey of my life. I have decided to quit everything and travel the world. I've quit my job, sold my appartment and plan to buy a one way ticket for somewhere and improvise from there.

I can't accept that rats' race making us be enslaved with a boring or ****ty job, go on vacation once a year, see friends on week ends, and start over on mondays, until the moment we die.

Life is something else. It has to be. And that what I've decided to find out.

I'm gonna leave my comfort zone in 1,5 month (roughly) with absolutely no plan besides hitting the road abroad.

I've decided to make a blog about this journey where I will share my adventures.

Hope that this journey will interest some of you here, who knows.

We only live (this life) once, so we'd rather enjoy it fully before it stops !

Cheers

Maintain good relations with your family while you're gone. You'll need them to bail you out in a few months when you're busto.

I guess not having plan or knowledge/experience in some parts of the world is not gonna make your life better..
Or is it all just some marketing thing and you are fully prepared with goal to make money and followers and stuff?
What is your starting point? I guess US when you are not talking about that...
Where are you heading? South? Heading South seems cool..

Whichever it is .. glglg

Money is not a problem. So if I end in some jail it will be for another reason.

Being totally free is the core of the plan. I have no more ties here so I will hit the road with no limitation besides my own.

Nothing likewise.

I'll leave Europe and yes, I plan to go where the sun shines and the sea/ocean are. I'm still hesitating for my first destination. I have many possibilities which is both great and makes the choice be difficult. But I'll see everything that I wish to anyway.

my escape plan involved buying a glass-bottom boat in the caribbean and making a business out of taking people on glass-bottom boat tours. days spent chillin watching sealife.. maybe make enough money to get drunk that night. and i bet i'd eventually get so good at shagging tourists i'd be able to start charging money for that too

why not just do it if this is what you wish ? We all have a good reason not to try (crazy) things. I've found out that sometimes it is best to leave our mind aside, otherwise we don't dare doing anything.

because if you want to have a professional career, it's very competitive. and your qualifications and resume are getting scrutinized and compared against people who haven't spent their lives indulging every whim, and you risk looking like kind of a doofus when you wake up from this rebellious phase. or, worse than that, you never get your life together ever and just live in poverty until you die.

but it kinda sounds like your family has money, for you to even come up with this idea, so if that's the case totally go for it

Angkor Wat seems nice.
Lots of new people to meet in Cambodia.
New Zealand and Oz (summer just about to start there, afaik). Say Hi to pelican, Luke, and bogan.
Thailand (though it may look just like Cambodia). You should be able to see wisski from almost anyplace in the country.

Thanks guys, I'm taking notes !

@ScreaminAsian : it is your choice to stick with the day to day life and there's nothing wrong with it. But this is not the only way to live this life.

(english is not my 1st language, so please bear with me, I'm trying to do my best to write this blog in english so that native english speaker can read)

Live well OP. I would like a live trip report when you eventually find your way to Belize. I expect you will stay there for quite some time if you have never been. Have fun and be safe in lands unfamiliar. Take plenty of pictures/vids and share here and on youtoobz..

Will watch

Yes stay away from Belize city evenings. From my readings and conversation with those that have been... day time is fine, gangs are real. Any place south of BC and inland is wonderful +islands ldo.

Plenty to do and see..mostly see/feel. This guy isnt to good with his voice over but is a solid representation of what you would enjoy on your particular journey imho:

Also see..

Young person/hippie tour. San Pedro Town:

^^^This cat just uploaded Columbia 4 those interested in Columbia and what not.

Might wanna keep his vids as a nice library of reference for the nextspot you will end up! I would feel like it was cheating a little, but meh haha

This guy as well, he has quite a few vids in Belize..although he is more higher end touristy: food*

Old guy tour, might wanna mute occasionally. Good info in Placencia:

The bell is a letdown. It's quite small, and there's a crack in it.

OP...
Tell us a bit about yourself.
How old are you? Where are you from?
Will you be hitchhiking?
What sort of skills do you have, should you find yourself someplace you may want to stay for an extended period of time?

@No Quarter : Thanks for the vids ! Yep, I know Gabriel Traveler (at least some of his vids). He is the perfect example of what I don't want my world trip to be. Nothing against his way of doing it (and which is successful), but he's living too much on a budget for my taste. My view is that such a world trip, even if you can't sleep in 5* hotels everynight still has to be pleasant and always counting how much you're spending, putting limits on your daily spending to try to reach the lowest level possible is not what I find pleasant for such a trip. If I decide to travel the world just to live like a bum, sorry but I'd rather stay where I'm living. Again, I'm not talking about a balla way of life, but I think that there's still some room between this way of life and Gabriel's which is uber cheap.

Thanks for the invitation ! If I come around your city I will let you know !

I'm 40 (still look like 35 because of my very healthy diet). I'm living in Europe and as you know if you watched the news, Europe is dying. Some personal events in my life made me be aware that life doesn't last forever, and I've always thought that life couldn't just be a day to day job with hollidays once a year. I've always been looking for something else, even if not knowing where to find it (nor how to find it). I've had many 'lives', I've been an artist in various different fields, jurist, and now I've got a day to day job in another area. I've been working quite a lot those past 10 years, I didn't really know why I was working that hard, but now I know : to be able to travel the world, totally free, and with no financial issue. Besides the money I've been able to save, I will get the money from the sale of my appartement as well.

Will I hitchike ? Why not ? I will also mix little hotel, hostel, and CS. I thought at some point about house sittings but I don't think I'm gonna do those. If I sleep in hostel I will sleep either in 4 bed dorms or in single rooms like I did when I traveled abroad in 2011.

My skills ? You mean besides being handsome and a very cool dude ? lol
Well I speak 3 languages, have been to the university, am sociable and in whatever customers kind of job I've been working they all always loved me because they were dealing with a truthworthy person being human and not only thinking on a selfish way.

My plan is to take a one way ticket for somewhere and improvise. If I want to stay longer there (and if I can visas wise) then I will. If I want to go somewhere else then I will catch another one way ticket for another city or country, and I will repeat the process. The goal is to be totally free, with no schedule, no more ties in Europe (I'm single, no kid, no loan/debt), and with the ability to go where I want to go, and do what I want to do.

I can't wait to experience this total freedom once in my life.

I'm quite good at killing nasty mosquitos. I've killed a bunch when I was in the jungle in the Amazon in january this year.

I still can't put up with roaches tho. They are a true phobia. I still don't know how I could stay in the jungle for that long for so many in the shed I was sleeping everynight and I have some anxiety to have them as night buddies when I go to India (never been there).

Thanks !

Yeah I know the famous quote "you don't escape your problems when going away" and actually this is not at all what I'm doing.

I'm not hoping to find paradise oversees. Paradise is not of this (cruel and tough) world. And I don't pretend that waking up in some others countries I will be a different person.

However, my experience has shown to me that the environment in which you're living everyday has some tremendous impacts on how you feel life, and here in Europe where there's no hope and only sadness and struggle, life ain't good.

Besides, I'm not escaping myself with this world travel : I'm looking for something. I appreciate who I am and I'm thankful to my parents for being the individual that I am now, but my life here in Europe lacks of surprises, of challenges, of novelty and I'm still looking at a sense to give to my life.

So I'm hitting the road looking for some answers. I'm waiting for something to happen, a break through.

This trip is gonna shake my beliefs, my comfort zone, all my customs. And this is a very good start.

Wait, you're leaving Europe because you don't want to see hopelessness, sadness and struggle? That narrows down your destinations a bit, but I'm sure you'll love Bermuda.

In some poor countries people 'seem' happier than where I live.

Besides, how many times will I have to say that I'm leaving because I'm looking for something I don't find here regardless of all the comfort that I have ?
