HU hyper - going from 3,5's to 30's (hopefully)

Hi there

Poker thingeling so far:
Have been playing casual poker since 2005 I think – mostly live. And did manage do have that as solely income for half a year before entering university. Was playing **** head criminals though, so wasn’t much of a challenge – the online worlds is a total different thing! The only hard thing was to once in a while lose on porpuse so I wouldn’t get beat up..

So far I’ve beaten the 3,5’s for 100 x buy ins the last two month. Did it to show my self that I actually could do some reasoning in poker. I just startet to play the 7’s and managed to get up 74 BI in two days – massive heater. I knew that I couldn’t keep it up – but the downswing alway hit harder than I think… So after losing 40 BI’s Im trying to switch my brain on again – which is kinda hard. Ive just bought some coaching and looking forward to see what that brings.

I play 90 % of my games on my iphone, so I will only post monthly giraffes I think. Instead of giraffes I will offer histories of the lower bottum life in Copenhagen, hence I work as a law consultant on the drugg addict area, which is all from ppl just poppin a joint to ppl shooting heroin and drinking wheel cleaner liquid. Poor ppl, poor society. For example one dude entered today, proudly showing his machine gun – kinda unstable having a guy going around in the street with a machine gun and totally high on heroin - imho.

I’m not aming to go pro or anything – I would do my job for free though If I could manage to get decent income from poker. My main goal is ”only” to could win steady on the 30 level.

Hence I have a full time job and earn a decent amount money isn’t the main factor for my poker. I love to get really nerdy about stuff and poker is a great place to keep challenging your little brain – so thats my main source.
I think the blog is mostly to force my self to think about poker – and not just autopilot. We will see.

(and yea yea yea - my english is kinda screwed, but I studiet mainly danish law, so haven't practiced english since high school)

Poker goals: starting on 15’s at the end of the year.
Play at least 1500 games a month.
EV ROI 3+ %.

Best

Ty both! Always nice to get some response from the community!

A little update for this month untill now:
Played 1269 games so far. Up 28 BI's. That makes ROI = 2.25 %

Imo it's decent. Just a bit downer I was up 74 BI. I think the ting happened was that once I startet on the 7's it was all "wow new level - tougher opponents"-like, and therefor I was playing the best I could - which gave good results (and ofc I was on a heater too). After a while I thought I was invincible and was going to play 15's in no time. So I started to not think and just auto-pilot. I belive I'm starting to think againg - and it already pays off

My poker tracker stats for this month looks awful and I will upload them tomorrow or monday before my coaching starts. Hopefully I'll see some good changes fast! I wish I somehow could track data when I'm playing on my phone or iPad...

I'll try to import them first thing tomorrow! Thx for the idea. And then show my horrible graph

So I got my first coaching session - and he seems really nice. We went trough some games and discussed the different steps. I got installed Equilab which is a very fun tool I have to toy around with asap. I'm also going to install coffee HUD or smt. like that. Other than that I have to work with sizing of my bets. I have always kept my betting to only half pot or pot, cause I didn't want to give away information - I always find players who do different bet sizes easier to beat, cause the bet almost always shows some kind of indication of your hand strength - and even if you do a small bet with a good hand it's cheaper for me to 3-bet/fold than if you did half pot. Therefor, in that case, I just stop looking at my cards (except for all in situations) and starts to play the player depending on hes bets. I think the key point for me is to understand, than not many players think about their opponents bet sizing. And when facing an opponent who does - ofc adjust your pattern.

The other hard thing for me to understand is this frequant postulate: "Your chips is worth money. Therefor its better to risk as little as possible." Imo thats up to discussion I mean it is certainly true when you play cash game. But in SNG's all that counts is if you win the SNG or not. Therefor I can't see what impact it has to wether you bet 35 vs 40 on your first cbet. In the single match it doesn't seem to me to matter. You have 10/20 chips less if you lose the hand - but so what? It is the reraises, the all ins that matter.

Other than that my winnings is going down as never before I think I'm in a bad rund - but srsly - is it possible to lose 70 buy ins cause of variance? It just seems so much. Back to study some more!

My plan is now to work with some sizing (regardless of my own doubts), review some more games and finish my translation of Merssennarys ebook (I'm translating it into danish just to make sure I've readen it all very thoroughly), mark som difficult games so I can discuss them with my coach the next session.

70 game ds seems small, I'll check my graph after work and see how many games I've lost.
