Thanks for the feedback guys.
I'll remove the reference to the Shujaes for now and expand on what the Dreamers are and how the world began. I'll do this by expanding on what the Taealam is.

I struggled with the conversation lol. I was just trying to to transition Kan to the Taealam and introduce another character.

Having a "newcomer" is always great, but no newcomers coming for a hundred years is going to be part of the plot. I'm thinking maybe I could do a first person narrative from the perspective of a Shujaes (explorer), but then the details of the relationships might be tough to portray. Oooh, he could be a lover to one of the main characters.
I'll do a rewrite/complete write of the first chapter this weekend.

it doesnt have to be someone literally new, but a character that is basically at the same level of understanding as the reader - that's why young adults/coming of age stories are such popular tropes in novels, among other reasons.

Dune did it, but Dune also had flavor text at the start of each chapter giving you more insight, as well as a glossary at the back of the book.

So a glossary of the new terms might not be a bad idea. it worked for one of the more famous SF novels.

ya you need a typeface or prompt that explains the new vocabulary to readers.

Good job on actually writing stuff. I agree with all the others' comments but it sounds like it could be a cool world.

abysmal, thanks for reading.

I've decided I'm going to do chapters for each of the six characters and I'm adding in a Shujae that travels there for the first time and other Shujaes. The outside world will be depicted through the Shujaes and the internal world by the 6 characters. There stories will intertwine to tell the whole story. What I wrote won't be the first chapter, but the second. The first chapter is going to be the unknown Shujae...not sure what I'm going to name him yet.

I'm taking a weeks vacation after this coming (next) week. I'll be dropping/picking up my daughter from a dance camp every day and spending g the rest of my time painting, writing and reading.

A guy at work, who is also bipolar, wrote a book in like 5 days and has asked me to read it. It's some sob story about a little mix boy that's abused. Not my reading genre at all, but I'll give it a read because he asked me too.

I want to complete my portal/naked woman/man chasing painting. I've only worked on it once since the first day I started....just haven't been motivated/inspired to paint for a few weeks.

This weekend was really fun. My sister has been doing a yearly Independence party for the last few years. It's becoming a family tradition and is lots of fun. Played volleyball most of the day yesterday at the party and just had a nice time. My niece and nephew came to stay the night and I had lots of fun with them and my daughter today.

I spent the rest of my time watching the WSOP main while the kids were playing and waiting on Howard Treesong to be on one of the features tables. GL Howard!!!
I've gone back and binged watched some of the older WSOP main events and I wish they would revert back to the way they used to show the players and have special side stories/interviews. They were all such characters, it was awesome.

I also finished Maze Runner this week. It was a little meh in parts but overall not bad for a quick easy read. I'm on the fence about reading the other two books. Has anyone read the series, worth it or meh?

I went to the bookstore looking for Dune and they didn't have it. I read the synopsis after someone mentioned it here and I cannot believe I have not read that series yet. It sound absolutely fantastic. I'm not sure if I should read it before I finish my book though, I don't want any of the ideas to inadvertently transfer to my world having it fresh on my mind. I'll get my plot completely outlined, then start the books.

So I've got some work problems , not with my boss surprisingly.

The old guy that likes me has become incredibly creepy and another old guy in his 50s asked me out today.
The creepy guy got my number off of the company phone list and has been texting me. On Friday, I went outside to talk to my friend and the old guy was there. When I sat down he moved over so close to me and had his face right in my ear and his leg almost on top of mine. He texted me and said he wanted me to have his number that night. I replied and told him to watch his proximity at work because it's weird.
This morning while I was getting coffee I side hugged the other old guy, he then grabbed a fist of my hair and smelt it....kinda weird, but he doesn't creep me out like the other one. After that he came to my office and asked me out until a date. I initially thought as friends and was like cool, but he restated to make it clear he wanted to date.

What in the **** is going on?
I am nice and social to everyone. I'm pretty open and don't mind being touched, so if someone wants to hug I hug them. I had no idea I was giving some signals to the old men that would make them think I would be interested.
What the heck do I do?

MLYLT,

Is this still a "Happy Thoughts" blog, or has it changed and is now just your normal H&F blog where we discuss your work life etc now?

Still a Happy place. I'm just in an uncomfortable situation and really don't know what to do.

M,

So do you want to people to respond like normal humans like in your H&F blog, or do you want.. I dunno.. the responses you usually look for in this blog?

A normal human response to another human is what I'm looking for.
What you said is jibberish

Keep it simple. Tell them you don't date co-workers and leave it at that. Simple rule that doesn't require any justification.

Going forward, reconsider your "touchiness" at work, especially if you're initiating it sometimes. You may not think you're giving out weird signals but you just might be.

I believe it's pronounced menage a trois.

Spoiler:
The real answer is tell them, "I apologize if I somehow sent the wrong signals, but I'm not interested in a romantic or sexual relationship." If they persist, go to HR.

Why would you hug someone at work? That is really weird, stop doing that.

I think it's just an East Texas culture thing. Everyone hugs and it's no big deal. The new plant manager always gives me a side hug when we meet up with the management group in the mornings and I hug people when we say goodmorning.
Every job I've had in this area people have hugged. I worked with a lot of South American people from Argentina and Venizuala when I was a project engineer and everyone hugged and kissed on the cheek.

Some people aren't open to hugging and others are, it's just a natural instinct, so I'm not running around hugging everyone. I'm gonna have to stop hugging the old men though.

I will probably agree that the Murica is strong in the hugging game at times, still I would try to tone it down a bit, especially with the creepers. ****ing is also a natural instinct and we somehow are able to somewhat control ourselves when it comes to that as well. Personally I don't see how a professional attitude allows for any hugs at all.

One guess:

Dudes heard from other guy about your and code's signals. They think you're loose/swing/fair game.

OMG, I did just change my Facebook status to single...makes sense now.
I didn't think these old man creepers were using the internet though.

How did they react when you told them you're not interested in a romantic/sexual relationship?
