You're right - it's hard when you're surrounded by fish at the tables, from whose play you can learn nothing good.

little bit of my poker background:

So I have been playing poker for 7-8 years or something.

First two years live later on online.

I had some successes both live and online.

I guess I only failed playing STTs in some period of a month or two- with exception of low stakes 6max hypers and micro-low 6max hyper satties but I dropped that too.

MTTs - I played some live and some online too.. maybe 50kish in cashes all together, idk how much would be pure profit bcs I have SC locked for years and I didnt track my live numbers a lot just remember bigger cashes from both actually..

Cash games- basically when I stopped losing at 1/2 and 2/5 live I switched to online, was winner there up to NLH100, NL200+ never worked out for me online- prolly couldn't play that comfortable on these levels..

All in all I never played full time/ professionally, but I was not a fish- I think..

This all above was up to 2014 or something and was all NLHoldem.

I tried some PLO in 2013/14 too, but whatever I won playing HU I lost playing SH..

However my winrate at PLO HU seemed unreal and I couldn't resist trying it out every here and there.

Then in 2015 I had a break from poker, I prolly didn't even play a single hand of poker for 4-6 months or so due to other obligations.

Now, last 2-3 months I've been depositing again a bit bcs I have more free time again (I passed the long boring administrative phase of establishing companies on my first market .... that's another story...) all in all I have some time to play.

Interesting thing is that I didnt even consider playing NLH when I first deposited after 4-6 months break.. I jumped directly on PLO.

I've been playing PLO25 zoom SH and PLO50 HU sometimes, interesting thing is that I was not bleeding money on SH anymore, somehow this break worked out well for me. I just started playing more conservatively post flop, stopped overplaying marginal hands on wet boards, started 3betting with better reasons preflop then before and it worked out.

However, Im in red this month because I just start playing some PLO200-600 HU whenever I run it up to some number because I don't play seriously as before anymore. So, I was playing half time beofore and I was hping Im not a fish, and today Im actually a rec, or a fish with just better skills than other fish so I punish some reg who under rates here and there ..

Conclusion..

If you are a solid NLH player you can probably learn PLO pretty much on your own (enough to beat micros online or low stakes live probably) just by adapting to different postflop dynamics and adopting some basic preflop strategy when 100bb eff deep and when 200+ effectively deep.

wow that was extremely tldr.

sorry

No action on PLO200z HU so I continued playing 100, ended up with bankroll of 612. 75 to 612 in one night seems enough. gngn

Lol at playing HUPLO100 on the mobile client... with all that history of playing semi-seriously, how could you ever allow yourself to grind without a HUD?

i dont need hud for playing hu zoom with 1.5 bis with bunch of unknows spining around for a hour or two.. its really easy to recognize aggressive regs, passive regs and fish among these players and that was enough for my mini adventure, why so serious tony?

I continued playing regularly on PC this few days plus I imported these day 1 hands to make peace with my friend tony. Thanks for making me feel bad for playing on my phone bcs I've played so much better on PC with HUD and everything, day 1 was luckboxing, Day 2 and today was easy going. Here is my mini graph fro last 2-3 days.

Most of the profit is from NL100z (half HU half SH but both zoom)
losing few buy ins on PLO50z HU
some smallish mini session on PLO50 HU reg table with 1 bi up or something
winning some $ on PLO200z HU
and few hands on PLO500z (day 1 when I hnr that reg on my phone- 500ish profit goes to that hand)

Conclusion, over these looong period of 2.5k hands I found PLO100z most comfortable to play so I will stick to that mix of playing some SH some HU here and there, strictly recreationaly, I like my new PLO hobby.

On line PLO plays so aggro, iirc.
Pot, pot, pot, pot, all in...any holdings.
Essentially.
Glad you are running well, tho.

Well not really, zoom100 pool on stars seems to have many good players in it, still pretty beatable I'd say though.
