SB, you seem seem overly sensitive to what strangers on an internet message board say about you. You also seem to be very self centered and oblivious to anything that doesn't pertain to you. You also are very strangely entertaining.

Im not that self centered and i think you missed the entire point of what I was trying to say.

I did not read any of the thread that you cited. Having said that and assuming what you quoted is representative of the sentiments involved. You were entitled to voice an opinion that posited that the views being expressed were prejudiced and, could be considered to be, offensive. By making it known that you were offended - does not necessarily mean that you are making the conversation about you. You are highlighting that the forum, in particular, and conversations, in general, should not make offensive jokes about minority groups and that those jokes fall outside the bounds of what are commonly held grounds of social decorum.

The response implying it is all about you - is a common tactic by prejudiced people to undermine the position from which the critique of the behaviour is being made from. By stating that your response is selfish and emotional - the commentator is, by implication, suggesting that in fact the standard you hold is not the consensus and that your response is not based on reason.
I can see why that is frustrating. I genuinely believe that you are unlikely to change their behaviour. If it is also unlikely that the forum will do anything about their behaviour. Then my only advice to you would be, to avoid posting in that particular part of the 2+2 forums in future. If you do not, you cannot be suprised if you face that sort of behaviour again.

Thank you exactly. That is the entire conversation verbatim . And plus im not even really against people having fun and saying what they want but my point is that if you say something sexist or racist to someone then there response to what you say is totally appropriate no matter what they say.
I was using a real conversation to try and simplify my point but I guess it was lost. ill try to simplify it even more

lets say hypothetically some psycho(person a) goes up to someone(person b) and says:

Person A: "Hi! I think your kind should be enslaved and I want to rape you"

Now lets pause the conversation. At this point, what are person B's appropriate responses? the answer is: person B is allowed to respond any way he chooses(besides physical violence) at this point. By saying something incredibly offensive person A has revoked the right to absolute courtesy.

So moving on person B says:

Person B: "**** you!"

Now going back to person A, they shouldnt possibly respond as thought they are in the right, person A doesnt get to say things like

Person a: "where are your manners?"
Person a: "cussing is against god. you are evil."
Person a: " youre a horrible person, what crude beliefs you hold."

If person A did respond this way you can be quite certain they are evil and manipulative... EXCEPT in this case and its even weirder.....

I think el-timon actually believe hes in the right. So its like what could he possibly be thinking. I find it incredibly bizarre. sorry im not that great at explaining myself so i guess i make a good target for people like that.
03-06-2014 , 02:52 AM
what jmakin said wasnt as offensive as person a but its still offensive enough to where i should be allowed to respond how i want, not however el timon thinks i should.

Well how about working on your blog more and worrying about the nasty small minds less.

Those things are kind of intertwined because a big part of the reason I post on here anymore is to understand how guys think and seriously im not doing a good job. Im pretty buzzed I just watched the horror movie possesed - I liked it.but yeah ill elaborate on this sometime later. \

But typically when I say things I feel like no one ever understands so if I have a blog and can type and elaborate on what im trying to say ill do so. I have to elaborate on the things I say since the things I think are different from the things others think by a lot so if I just say what I think everyone thinks im weird.

Perhaps guys can not be squeezed into one box - and all be understood.

Upbringing, age, culture, education, ethnicity can all have a huge impact on how anyone one guy thinks.

Im not mad at jmakin, Im mad at el timon. Like how could you respond this way and everyone thinks its just ok?What is el timon thinking when he posts this?

One time a guy I know named craig (who is tall and black) was talking to this other guy I know who is like a squirmy. ok so craig walks into the room and squirmy immeditely says "do you play basketball?" and then craig is like "sometimes" and then squirmy goes "do you like fried chicken?" and craig has a blank face and he says "are you just asking me this became im black?" what squirmy says next was bordeline unbeleivable so im not going to post it.

Craig wasn't mad and he didn't have to respond that way- but he wanted to. Once you respond to the question "how do i look ?" with the answer " The only thing i want to see you wear is an apron since I want you to spend all your time in the kitchen" then like whatever but anything she says after that should be fair game just like craig I couldve said nothing but I wanted to.

Ok so then el timon chimes in and hes all like its not always about you....WTF
How is that a response??? what was I supposed to type:

"No, jmakin I do not beleive the tears of gays are what makes chick fila so delicious. I think it is the quality of the chicken as compared to other fast food joints." so as to not violate whatever is happening in el timons head to make him think Im the bad person in this exchange??

and then predictable no one in the ootlc thread disagreed with him. I wanted to yell at him but I couldnt became it would play into what ever game he is doing. people in the ootlc thread are playing some weird games.

Jesus christ bryce. The post was clearly tongue in cheek, I've made numerous, if not hundreds of posts over the years in defense of gay rights, people (I would hope) that frequent the LC thread know my hatred of Chic Fil-A because of their gay bashing campaign. I'm (loosely) bisexual myself. I'm sorry you took my joke personally - I don't think it was a bigoted statement and it was only meant to poke fun at how ridiculous Chic Fil-A is and how people seemed to get off on their chicken because it's a "religious" organization that is in support of "family values."

The reactions itt you really overreacted to, as well as my initial statement. you seem to think it was directed at you, or that's what it seemed like, and others commented on it. It really wasn't as big of a deal as you're making it.

Of course you can respond how you want. Making everything about you, though, is what prompted the reaction that it did. You need to take things way, way less personally, and I know I've told you that before.

I think your blog is interesting and you're an interesting person. Please, though, take yourself less seriously.

Like, seriously, you actually think (and others too?) that I REALLY believe Chic-Fil-A is delicious because of homophobia? Or something? Come on. Jesus.

I'm going to be out all day so I'm on phone. So I will just say you're probably right about me overreacting. If I didn't have my own blog I never would make that rant two days ago. Also it wasn't about what you said it was about el Timmons reaction mostly

ok the longer version of why I post on here is this:

A long time ago during the boom I played a lot of poker. I never bothered learning any of the math and was an overall losing player but did study the strategical elements of the game and basic odds. I first posted here basically in 2005. I played on pokerstars under the screename Chronodeath and on full Tilt under the screename spaceman bryce. The largest game I ever played in was 5/10nl live and less than 2k hands. I played mostly live though.
I even played in a couple wsop events in 2008. So when I first post here for years my main reason was to learn about poker. I never bothered to really understand the nuances of the game pretty much out of my own dislike for mathematics, but played a ton of poker.

then later on my main reason to post was to say hi to people and write stories like this one or this one so i was mostly a story writer for bbv4l. Most of my threads are stories I wrote. I wasnt so great at making stories or poker but it was fun. I left on and off.

Nowadays, the main reason I post is to understand how different people think- i didnt just want to lump all guys into one category. I am also interested in word usage and what people really say when they say things

Im not a professional writer or even a good one but I like to express myself with how I make writings. peppered throughout all the things I make is the fact that for a while I was drinking all the time and sexually confused. jmakin if i was home yesterday i would make a longer explanation but its too late for me now. If I had to explain myself everytime I freaked out over something I would spend all my life minutes and hours explaining myself.
03-10-2014 , 02:55 PM
I spend my whole life explaining myself. The rest of the time, it is explaining others or listening to others explain themselves or others to me.
My guess is the rest is just bored, sleep and death.

Thanks for the links I will read them later.

Also I am trying to lose 17 pounds but instead i gained about 5 in the last few weeks. Im pretty sure the ideal amount for weight loss is 1400-1800 calories and not starvation. I might start complaining about this a lot. But anyway if I ever lose those 22 pounds then ill start talking about fashion and stuff and Be a way bigger attention whore than I am now.
03-11-2014 , 12:45 PM
I probably shouldnt have typed that but just pretend I didnt and dont read post number 112.
03-12-2014 , 10:19 PM
So everyone who I like is married and working serious jobs now.

I feel like everyone is a flareon or an umbreon and im still an eevee.I want someone to give me a firestone

more on this later

Actually forget that. I was thinking about how I actually am a bit self centered and stuff. So I'm going to try to actually learn about some things instead of just complaining about everything. Its really unfortunate I havent really tried to improve in anything and blame other people( not out loud but privately.. in my own head) Particularly things I pretty much do already anyway. This may be possible. I have gone in the right direction by a lot since last year (about a year ago in march 2013) I quit smoking for good and I have started to almost never drink.

1.) Poker- Im going to attempt to learn how to actually play this game that I play. This includes all the stuff I dont really know about like statistics, math, databases and analysis. Would be good to have a deeper understanding.

2.) Writing- It would be nice to actually know how to write really well than to just make thousands of posts on internet forums. This will certainly require me to actually read too and I haven't completed a book in like almost 2 years(?) I think.

3.) Sewing - I don't know how long its been since Ive sewed anything but a button. I have a sewing machine but dont really know how to make anything good or even use patterns correctly . I will try to make my own clothes and really learn how they are made

4.) Running- I havent ran in a long time. I actually was running jv track with the occasional participation in varsity relays 8 years ago. I hasvent even tried to run anywhere in a long long time and I also have totally destroyed my lungs in the mean time so It might not even be in the cards. but ill try. This is the only one I basically am completely uninvolved with already so whatever.

this cant possibly hurt me and it could work out well.

Sound very productive.

Bob's blog has good reviews of poker books if that helps accomplish two birds with one stone. If you do not like that The Lounge also has a reading thread that you might like to follow - you can ask about books or some recommendations in areas of interest.

I have come to the realization after purchasing threads and fabric that I dont have any good place to sew in my apartment. I dont have a conventional table. I have a night desk a glass stand and a computer desk. idk if im going to go makeshift or if im going to have to buy some table at target for 30 bucks or what.

Ok so I ran a timed mile for the first time in forever its pretty sad. I used to run jv track and had around a 5 minute mile. My time was 13:01 thats what happens when you smoke drink and never excersise. I guess my new goal will to be beating a 7 minute mile. I hope my lungs are ok.
03-28-2014 , 08:21 PM
Hey Bryce. There is a fun training guide called the couch to 5k. It really helped me when I was trying to get back into running. Also, I would encourage you to set a goal of running a 5k. Running a sub 7 minute mile is good but I think that setting a goal of completing a 5k may be more beneficial to your health.

Best of luck!

that sounds sad to me though even if youre right. during my time in track for a good 5 months there i was running 7-8 miles a day except for on days where I was running more.

so trying to actually learn about poker:

I have read theory of poker and the first 18 pages of mathematics of poker- I am growing increasingly concerned that those are the only pages of said book i will ever understand. and talk about a difficult endevour, the mathematics seems like an endless jungle of ....math. I hate math. I have no idea why i played poker in the first place or even post on this site anymore. like NO IDEA.
Anyway Im curious as to how far down the rabbit hole is actual online pros thinkng now?

Known knowns: professional players are currently using:

-Online databases to carefully analyse hands
-they read giant poker hand histories
-they have read the books and their understanding of poker goes far beyond those books
- they use some form of poker tracking software
- baysian analysis has something to do with it whatever that is.
- play ten hours a day
- eat healthy

so what else do professional players do that im not aware of? If i learn some of the math, then wont I be at the mercy fo someone who has spent the last billion years learning the math?

also not sure how much I am allowed to discuss whats in book and since this is a poker book site thats prob a touchy subject so I wont. currently failing hard on all fronts right now.
04-04-2014 , 06:26 PM
i'd just skip the math part and get a degree in advanced quantitative analysis.

also, seating scripts.
