The guy just called me to explain. His story is that he ordered 2 somewhat similar boats around the same time. He got a confirmation for the first one that said Feb. 7. Mine was March 1.

This is somewhat plausible but there are still holes in the story. He consistently said "around" end of January, beginning of February. If he knew this, he could have given me a hard date but he didn't. Again, the manufacturer is very clear on delivery dates.

But, no matter. Once he found out his mistake he started giving me a line of BS. And continued it.

This is what happens when you lie. You end up lying on top of your lies and then you lie yourself into a corner.

I mean, it's fairly harmless really. The boat was never going to be here earlier and no damage is really done here. Just annoying.

My guess is he will make damn sure all is right from here on in. He's already in trouble I think.

That's pretty bad. There are so many ways to handle the situation without lying and his explanation is pathetic and not helpful at all.

I guess the good news is that it will be happening pretty soon and you can do more of that avatar dance.

Just hope you don't end up with a boat that isn't anything like the one you ordered.

IM conversation with boss:

Me: Reminder, I'm off tomorrow. Wedding celebration
Him: Congrats, have fun. I have your eval. We can discuss next week
Me: sounds good
Him: 170% bonus
Me: lol, you mean 17%
Him: 1.7 times salary
Me: picks jaw off floor

I'm still skeptical, though. Maybe there is some sort of reduction formula or something. It just can't be right. Our company absolutely kicked ass last year, but that seems so ridiculous.

Will post actual results soon.

LOL, the more I think about this, the more it can't be true. There must be a formula "based on" 170% of my salary.

My boat has arrived at the dealer! Woot!

They will have it for another week to install gps, compass, power pole, and trolling motor. Then it goes to an installer to put on a custom t-top on the 9th. Another 2 weeks after that maybe.

Before it's all said and done, I will have been boatless for 3 months.

1.7 x monthly salary?

Oh, also, given the 1.7x salary and impending non-retirement. I should extend congrats on an even biggerboat once you are ready to trade in this one.

Soooooo, we are having a wedding party tomorrow. Wife's daughter and my sister are here planning decorations, etc. It is amazing to watch. Shells, lights, tablecloths, etc. Etc.

I'm pretty sure if I was in charge it would be ice chest full of beer and some chips and dip.

If guac is part of the dip selection that really sounds like it covers everything as far as I can tell in terms of a party.

The ladies are in full decoration mode.

I learned a new word. Tulle. It is cloth stuff you have to put everywhere for a wedding reception. This is the first place to get tulled. More to come.

We have shells. Lots and lots and lots of shells. Some are in jars

Some are on the ground

Others are scattered pretty much everywhere.

Here's the important stuff

Another table with some shells on it

Two more tables with shells on them

Some more tulle, because you can't have too much tulle

Oh yeah, I forgot. We have fairy lights. Lots of fairy lights.

Here is some tulle with fairy lights

Well, the party was a success.

The skype part, not so much. Most of my "friends" never even tried. biggerwife's best friend was there, though. And, two of my friends (married couple) eventually got through. My mom and wife's sister were never able to connect but we facetimed them with different phones. It all worked out, though.

I met wife's brother for the first time. He has a lot of mental health issues. He's bipolar for one. My impression of him after meeting was that he is sort of a ticking time bomb that could go off fairly easily. But, he was fine. Her mom and dad are divorced but both showed up with their significant others. No problems there. My sister and her family seem to get along with wife's family. No drama.

All in all, a very good time.

My non-retirement continues.

I got my bonus and it think it ended up being 17% of yearly salary. Not shabby. I got more last year, but I'm definitely not complaining. They have all of these metrics and bell curves and stuff to determine who gets what. I think they factor in the previous year in the equation. It's a mystery but I'm just happy to get one.

Unfortunately, property taxes took a big chunk. I'm not sure yet what to do with the rest. I am meeting the boat dealer Saturday to finalize all the loan stuff. I'm hoping when this is done I can pay off the truck.

Which leads me to my non-retirement. I've done the math. Retirement just ain't happening soon. I might be in for another year or so.

I signed all of the papers on the boat yesterday. For some reason I thought the monthly payments were going to be much higher.

Retirement just a little bit closer maybe?

The boat should be ready for pickup in 2 weeks. Seems like forever. Fortunately, the weather hasn't been very good here so we aren't missing too much.
