Yup.

headspace worked for me in that it has me doing it longer and more often, but I'm British so maybe the accent was less distracting, and I do feel that it doesn't have a huge range which makes justifying a subscription a bit hard. Will find out how hard to cancel it is....

I got a call from the plumber that is going to fix the leak upstairs. He needed to find out how to get access to my condo. I told him someone would probably be there but I would get him the access code to the lockbox.

So, I called Rob to get the lockbox combination. He informed me that they have passed everything by the fire marshal. HUGE WOOT!. He said that they would have to add a doohickey to the thingamabob and add some sort of box to the dryer somethingorother. I sort of stopped listening when I got the good news the ceiling is fine the way it is.

He also said he thought they would be calling for the rough inspections next week some time.

Great news all around.

So, I watch a lot of movies and some of you might know I post reviews in the Lounge. I've decided to post them here instead. I encourage discussions. I like hearing differing opinions. Just don't troll. We all like and dislike different things when it comes to movies so keep that in mind.

For Whom The Bell Tolls Adaptation of a Hemingway novel about an American assigned to blow up a bridge during the Spanish civil war.

I enjoyed this but I felt like each scene was about 20% too long.

I haven't read the novel but it seemed as if it struggled to present what Hemingway was trying to say. There are so many nuances to a written work that are difficult to present in film. I think this happens with a lot of adaptations.

I would recommend this to people that really love movies but I think a casual movie watcher might not enjoy it so much.

The Notebook Famous "chick flick" about an elderly man who reads a story of a young couple who fall in love to an elderly lady in his nursing home.

I'm not a huge chick flick fan but this one gets mentioned so much that I've been curious about it for some time.

I sort of tried to keep this at arm's length but it sucked me in. Although it skirted the line of cheesiness, it never crossed it. Even though you knew where this was going (to a certain extent) the journey was wonderful.

If this one don't make you cry then you ain't human.

Would recommend to anyone.

The Last Samurai Tom Cruise is an alcoholic ex-captain of the US Army in the 1800s with a past that haunts him. He is recruited by Japan to fight for the emperor against the rebellious samurai. During a battle he is captured by the samurai and grows to respect and admire them.

This is a beautifully shot movie. The story is solid as was the acting but it gets very Hollywoody in parts, especially during the fight scenes. Nothing earth shattering moviewise but a good popcorn flick.

Cruise is a very polarizing actor and I know a lot of people can't stand him but he's one of my favorites. He was great in this role.

I checked out the condo yesterday. There really isn't anything pictureworthy that has changed. They filled in the craters around the waste plumbing which makes me think that the plumbing inspection has been completed.

My neighbors have to be hating me.

Yesterday was a great day. It was in the high 60s and calm. I just stood on my condo porch for about 15 minutes just looking out over the bay. It was wonderful. I can't wait to get there.

OK, I've been struggling with this since I started. One of my main characters is a rock singer. I'd compare him and the band to Steven Tyler and Aerosmith, somewhere between heavy metal and bon jovi.

I need a band name. His name is Lenny and somehow this needs to be in the band name. Lenny and the ????, or something with his name in it like Lensanity (not that obv.).

Suggestions welcome! Please don't sue me if I use it and it wins an Oscar

Night of the Hunter Robert Mitchum is a preacher/serial killer who shares a cell in prison with a man who killed two people and took a significant sum of money. Before the man was arrested he hid the money and made his two young children promise to never tell anyone where it was. When Mitchum is released from prison he goes to the man's family in hopes of recovering the loot. The story takes several twists and turns before finishing where you never would have expected it to go when it started.

This is a very very strange movie. Although it was filmed in 1955, it is black and white. Some of the scenes seemed somewhat normal followed by others that are just surreal. One shot of a woman tied to a car in the bottom of a river was somewhere between hauntingly beautiful and downright bizarre. The dialogue, interspersed with singing, was all over the place including a bit of breaking of the 4th wall.

The wiki said that directors such as David Lynch and the Coen brothers were influenced by this film and I understand why.

Ultimately I liked it. I was sort of wtf'ing during a lot of it but it certainly held my attention. I think anyone that is really interested in movies should probably make this a must see. But I'm not sure everyone will like it.

We had our quarterly "division" meeting. I'm not really sure how we are classified but it is everyone that works for my boss' boss' boss. Pretty big group.

One of the gems was that the employee satisfaction survey miraculously spiked to acceptable levels. All the way from about the lowest possible levels. Apparently the pizza parties made everyone happy. That and the fact that my entire team's scores were tossed out of the mix. The reason for this wasn't explained but I'm sure happy that our boss is getting the recognition he is due.

We were also informed that we will be getting Tshirts with our boss' name on them that we will be wearing to work one day a month for team building.

A little hard to tell which days are which.

Are you peaking Friday?

Saturday worse than Sunday?
biggerboat's building boondoggle blog Quote

Yes. Although probably not illustrated properly the idea is that Saturday has holdover stress from the week and sunday lowers that somewhat but because each week adds more than the weekend can shed the long term chart ends up looking something like this:
