seems like they are doing with their property all that is legal. not much you can do about that. those cars look like they are not causing you access issues.

and complaining to him often, will just turn him against you, and make any future concessions futile. you just have to live with it. or get the homeowners association to change the rules.

all over the country people are renting out their homes on short term basis when legal to do so. every town is getting complaints just like what is happening to you. many are making monthly rentals the rule, but grandfather in existing. as require by the law.

my best financial advice is too buy your own home and the one next door so you can control your neighbors and profit at the same time.
if you cant, then put up the best barriers you can and suck it up. i feel bad for you as its sad, but true.

if this is going to ruin your life as it seems to be the start of it, just sell and move to where your neighbors are not 10 feet away from your windows.

This move here was pretty difficult for us. I've sort of tossed around the idea of moving but it just wouldn't be fair to my wife. She's gone through a lot to get another job in this area, plus she really likes everything else about the house. So, as of right now, that isn't a solution.

We do have a little hope that maybe he ends up selling the place. My sister would buy it. I doubt that happens any time soon.

I genuinely believe that the owner does not want a party house. I'm guessing when he saw the yard he got pretty upset. He did spend a ton of money to make the house nice. I really think that his vision was that it would be families renting it.

My wife's son thinks he is charging way too little and because of that it attracts locals that will chip in a few bucks to have a weekend party. Which, so far, has been true. The owner mentioned also that he doesn't think he's charging enough and I noticed today he's raised the price

You are right about about complaining too much. It will eventually fall on deaf ears. I'm going to try to keep it to a minimum but if we have problems, he has to know about it. My neighbors hate it as much as we do but so far most of them haven't complained. Although the guy on the other side has.

So, yeah, we are going to live with it for now.

In the back of my mind I realize that nothing is ever permanent. I can't seem him keeping this going the way it is now. They will eventually get someone that destroys his home. The guy at our last place learned this, and guess what - he just sold it. I just believe this too shall pass.

This morning a new bunch of people showed up. My wife was coming back on a run and stopped to chat with them. During the conversation she mentioned that we hope the noise level was kept to a minimum.

About 1/2 hour later, we were out in the back yard and one of the women was talking to another person that apparently wasn't in on the earlier conversation. It went something like this "Yeah, that's her. We paid good money to come party."

Now, if you knew my wife, you would know she is the least antagonistic human on the planet. No way would she say anything bordering harassment.

Apparently, the people said something to the owner. He texted me and told me to stop harassing his guests or he would sue me.

I'm really sorry bb, but that was an actual lol moment for me.

and.......................on top of that, my wife's son called and she needs to take him to the hospital. We are pretty sure it is that liver infection that the antibiotics apparently did not kill.

Sounds as if it's time to start gathering actual evidence (i.e., recording noise levels and other infractions), and tell the owner to bring on the suit.

basically its his house and if he is following the legal rules he can of course sue you or file an harassment complaint with the cops. doesnt mean its going anywhere.
and likely wont. you also have the right to free speech and can talk to anyone in public you like to.

but like i said earlier he will get tired of you complaining real fast. so would i. seems now you have made an enemy and lost all bargaining power.

if the parties get obnoxious call the police on them. after a few times they will be mad at you also, or get the owner a summons.
save all texts. and dont you send any especially ones that can be used against you.

you had similar problems at your last place. and close quarters this comes with the territory. you are going to have to suck it up and live with it. unless you find a solution.

people all over are having the same problems. and those that rent a place for a party feel and rightly so they are entitled to party.

use the app decibel pro. or better yet get a meter. generally noise in most places has to be less between 10 pm and 7 am. to be considered too loud.
before 10pm most have a big leeway on how load they can be. that is the way it is.

Yeah, I had to take a break. I wasn't doing to well and it kinda felt like I was becoming the joke of the internet.

But, things have definitely improved.

We bought a house and will be moving in about 2 weeks. Haven't put this one on the market yet, but I'm pretty sure we won't get what we paid for it. Prices have come down here a bit. Won't be horrible, though. The new house is back on the other side of the bay where we used to live. Deed restricted community that doesn't allow short term rentals. It's a small house but it has been completely remodeled - new everything. We're pretty excited about it.

We did end up getting new windows since I already paid for them. Pretty amazing. Can't hear much of anything now. Also, this is the first weekend since the house next door became an airbnb that there is nobody there. Soooo peaceful. The last people to stay there were pretty horrible. The very first thing they did was pull some huge speakers out of their cars and immediately started blasting music. LOL, the lady on the other side yelled at them to turn it down and it worked. They kept it somewhat down after that.

The douchebag next door had his lawyer send us a threatening letter. Among other things he accused us of trying to drive the value of his house down so we could buy it a deep discount. He threatened to go after my wife's real estate license. That whole line is beyond stupid since we offered him well above market. But he's a dick. I'll be glad to be gone from this.

My wife's brother spent the last month or so in jail and now he's in a psych hospital. He refuses to take meds. He is still awaiting several trials for various stuff he has done.

Turns out my wife's son isn't having liver issues. He got sick again and they scanned him - no more abscesses. The doctor diagnosed him pretty quickly. Turns out he has Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome. Look it up. Ain't that something. I had never heard of it before but it's a thing.

My brother's family and their neighbors have been best friends for coming up on 30 years. Their kids grew up together, they went on vacations together. They have been inseparable from the get-go. Hopefully, you get someone nice like that.

Yeah, we talked to one neighbor. Nice guy. Family with two young daughters. He said the people on our other side are an older couple. Quiet street.

Our biggest regret about moving is we've made really good friends here, especially the ones next door (other side from airbnb).

Yeah, it has a lift but I'm not entirely positive it's going to work. It looks like it will but I haven't done the measurements. Fingers crossed because I don't have a plan B. Well, I can put it on the trailer and leave it where I'm storing the trailer but that is not ideal.

Turns out we are closing 5 days before the original close so we've been scrambling a bit. All good.

Our current house is officially on the market. One showing so far but no offers. I think it's listed a little high but my realtor wanted it even higher.

Transplanted some of our plants to the new house. We had some that were gifts as well as some my dad had that held some sentimental value. The hardest one was a palm that is decent sized. Pretty hard day.

Talked to two of our new neighbors. Very tight group. Most have been there over 15 years.

The people next door have an empty boat lift that they will rent if we have to replace ours, which it looks like we might.

Took the boat over to see if the lift would work. It will not. The posts need to be moved about 5 ft. out from where they are.

The other day when we were talking to our new neighbors, I commented on the boat lift situation. He told me that the HOA would want a change submitted so they could approve it.

I later looked this up on the HOA website. Turns out my neighbor is in charge of the architectural reviews for the neighborhood. LOL. Shouldn't be an issue since his lift sticks out the same distance of what I need to move mine to.

When you write, "out", do you mean that the dock part needs to be longer? I presume that means you need to be in deeper water for the new lift?

Good luck with the sale, purchase, move, etc, etc. Too bad the old place didn't work out, but glad you were able to get out of there.

The entire lift needs to be 5' farther away from the seawall so i can pull the boat in further. If I tried to put it on now, about 8 ft. of the back of the boat would stick out past the lift. It would likely just tip over backwards if I tried it.
