It looks like they used a little thicker sheetrock than I bought but its a garage and I don't care.

Last edited by biggerboat; 09-19-2022 at 10:30 AM. Reason: Note how bright it is in the garage. Woot!

I need to vent.

We ordered a dining room set through amazon. It is an Ashley set.

The delivery date was scheduled about a month after we ordered it, which was fine since we weren't moved yet.

It was supposed to be delivered last Wednesday, between 9 and 12. They gave us a lot of instructions including someone has to be here. Nobody showed up.

I found the delivery company through Amazon so I decided to contact them. NSD is the name. Not sure what it stands for. Maybe Not Sure Delivery? I sat on hold for about 30 minutes before their system said someone would call back, then it hung up. So, I decided to use their chat. The girl told me that the reason it wasn't delivered is because someone attempted to contact me but I didn't respond. Total BS. I did not receive and email, text, or phone call from anyone. All she could tell me was that she would send someone a message to let them know. No confirmation of anything. No attempt to reschedule. Nothing.

I then got a call back from them several hours later. He said he would reschedule for Saturday, between 9 and 12.

Saturday came and, again, nobody showed up. I brought up chat and the girl said nobody was answering at the "terminal" so she could do nothing to help me. So, I called amazon. The guy was super helpful but he couldn't get anywhere with them either. Then he told me that he looked something up somewhere that told him they don't even deliver on Saturdays. He said there wasn't much that could be done until Monday.

My wife and I are still working hard on the house so we decided to eat out on Saturday. I get a phone call about 6:30 in the middle of dinner. I could not understand a word he said other than "25 minutes". I tried to figure out if that might have been the delivery, but there was no way for me to understand what he was trying to tell me. Just on the chance that it might be the delivery, we packed up our food and headed home.

Sure enough, there it was. The guys dropped it out of their truck and half slid half rolled it into our house. The box looked like it had been beat up pretty bad.

Well, of course it was bad. The corner is broken. There may be other damage, but this was enough to know it was going to be unacceptable so I haven't looked much further.

I called amazon and the only remedy is for them to pick up the entire thing and give me a refund. I told them that it was an entire dining room set and that I had to cut the box apart to get to it, and that it was frickin' heavy. They said they would handle it.

We'll see.

I probably wouldn't be all that upset that it arrived damaged if I wasn't already supremely pissed about having to deal with an incompetent delivery company.

LOL, I just went to google to give those turkeys a bad review. The reviews out there are nothing but 1 star reviews complaining about this company. Most of them start out with something like "If I could give them -10 stars, I would". I'm not sure why Amazon would even use them.

florida has so many old folks kicking the bucket and their heirs send great furniture much better than whats made today to the big thrift stores.
if not in a hurry you would be surprised what you find for small prices with some leg work.

get an oversized for the bad one. and leave a fan in the garage if its not air conditioned. helps keep mold at bay. and no or little rust on metal things.

is that one of those bass'es that wiggle when it hears sound.

Nope that's a legitimate 9 lb. bass I caught years ago. I tried to release it but it was gut hooked and wouldn't revive, so I had it mounted.

Ian. It's named after a guy. Nothing to worry about. When they call them Connie or Carla, you have to run.

Hehe.

We were probably going to have to pull the boat anyway so, with a storm coming, we got it today. Went ok but the ramp here is steep and slippery so we ended having to get a bobcat to help pull us out.

you need a smaller boat. remember how much fun that small one was when you could just jump in and head out without all the prep.

and now you have to by oil stocks to try to break even.

looks like now the storm might head more to your side of the state. sorry but i have to say i hope so.
you can always come over to my spot and camp out after your house is blown away.

We really like fishing offshore. So much to see. Its a lot of work but worth it.

Looks like we're going to get hit pretty hard. We're going to ride it out. They are predicting 6-9ft. tide surge. We can handle that. Sure glad we're not in our old place. We have hurricane shutters on our south facing windows. We have a cinder block structure squeezed in between 2 other cinder block structures. My biggest concern is a big oak tree in the front yard but the house will block a lot of yhe wind. Gonna be scary, cannot lie, but I think we'll be ok.

Good luck, be safe. Get the boat out from underneath that tree.

Thanks.

I moved it to the other side of the driveway. Not much but it might make a difference.

My neighbor offered to let me park it in his driveway. It would be farther away but if the tree does blow over it's more likely to fall that direction. The house faces north and the heaviest winds will come from the south and east.

did you tie it down with those yellow 10000 pound straps. you cant not tie it down no matter where you put it.

boat must be secure to the trailer and the trailer tied so it cant go in any direction.

good luck on the storm.

That would be nice but too late.

As of right now it looks like close to a direct hit, but weakened somewhat before it hits us. Starting to look like it might go east of us a little. Storm surge looking a little less of an issue.

Gonna be scary, can't lie

Thanks.

We spent the morning dragging anything that might fly into the garage. All of our neighbors were out doing the same. Pretty much everyone in our little cul-de-sac is going to ride it out. We have each others' phone numbers and we also agreed to use a marine channel on our radios to keep in touch if necessary.

I haven't looked at the forecast in the last couple of hours, but it seems to get nudged a little east every time I look. That would be great for us if we got the back side of it, but it's still going to come really close I think.

Yep, looks like it will hit much farther south than they thought last night. They've brought down the storm surge prediction considerably. Great news for us, not so good for others.

Woke up to a little rain and breeze. Not bad. Forecast track hasn't changed much. The water is getting sucked out of the bay like it did before Irma.
