Well, it has been 8 days now and nothing.

I called the bank and the lady I talked to this time said I would not get anything in the mail. She indicated it was electronic and it takes 8 days for Florida DMV to process.

Yet another story. I haven't had 2 different people at the bank tell me the same thing yet.

I informed the lady that the previous lady told me it would be mailed. She said she would look into it and call back, but she did not.

I'm guessing the bank will just wash their hands of everything and I now need to navigate the DMV to figure out what is going on.

I just cannot get over the gross incompetence of EVERY person and institution I have to deal with. Nobody, but nobody, does anything resembling a good job anymore.

I just got off the phone with the county tax collector. He said that it takes up to 21 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!! for the lien to clear. It is all done on the state level and the county has nfc about any of, including how to follow up.

So unbelievably frustrating.

Trying to get some sort of official estimate is proving challenging. Nobody around here does that sort of work. There are furniture restoration places but they want me to bring it in.

I did send the company a detailed account of what went on. I also posted it on google reviews.

Worse, they don't even try, like the mover guy's attempt to not deliver. Given the lack of effort, followed by incompetence once you badger these people into doing their minmal job, I can understand your frustration.

Hope it all ends up o.k.

The story changes yet again.

I talked to the lady at the bank. Now she is telling me that I have to physically go to the DMV to get a paper title. I let her know that I now have been given FIVE different stories by her bank.

I am so unbelievably frustrated.

Not only that, but the bank will not give me any pertinent information. No tracking number. Nothing. They just said they did it. Whatever "it" is.

OOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKK..................

I talked yet again to the lady that told me that I would get something mailed in 3-5 days. She let me know that it was indeed incorrect and that she filed a formal complaint to the load department about this.

She has been super helpful all through this and I believe her here. She assured me that she will do all of the investigative work on this, including contacting DMV and getting the story. I believe that she will and that I just need to be patient.

I also learned that Florida is the only state that handles titles this way. Supposedly electronic filing was supposed to be faster but it seems it is just the opposite.

I'm just going to try to let go of this for a bit.

You got your money and the guy got his boat, right? Why the stress?

Because neither he nor I have the title. I don't want this in my name at all.

i would not want it in my name either. but if you have a bill of sale saying he bought it with his signature than your liability is covered. plus with the bank you have proof of sale.

it seems to me in florida you should get a paper title rather than do the electronic title.
then you dont have to go through this. i did that with my cars and boat. it costs a little extra but seems the way to go. or before you sell go get one. you can do that.
florida is crazy with some of their procedures. but at dmv it moves fast which is nice

The lien has finally been released. Yeah!

On another note, I think the boat guy is dragging his feet yet again. My wife asked for his phone number so let's see if she can work her magic.

My wife is totally incapable of being anything but nice so I'm not sure much came of the conversation.

He was communicating with me before she called so he is again moving along. It's part of the pattern that he get some stuff done and sends me a bunch of pics, then doesn't do anything. One piece of good news is that, based on the pics, the boat is inside his shop.

This first pic looked to me like damage in the bilge. I asked him about this and he said it just hadn't been painted completely which you can see if you zoom in. The second pic shows the tanks being in. I am not sure if they are in in or simply dry fitted. Anyways, they fit.

So, my grandfather was on Johnny Carson several times.

I've spent a long time trying to find a picture or maybe a clip of one of the shows but have been unsuccessful.

We found this in mom's stuff. I'm pretty happy it was in there.

If it's not too personal, I'd be interested in the story. Why was your grandfather on Carson?

I would have thought that pretty much every Carson show could be found somewhere. Thinking about it though, that's an awful lot of screen time.

He was a musician. Fairly accomplished violin player and youth orchestra conductor.

He was also the curator of a rare musical instruments collection at a museum in California, which led him to Carson. He was on to showcase some of the most unusual instruments in the collection.

A somewhat interesting side note. He lived in Chicago in the 20s and 30s. He was a couple of blocks away from the St. Valentines Day massacre and heard the shooting. He also told us he got stopped regularly by police and was asked to open his violin case because so many Chicago gangsters carried their guns in violin cases.

Yeah, my grandparents on my father's side were both musicians and very much in the social scene at the time. Not really high society but somewhat hoity-toity. Quite the contrast from my grandparents on my mother's side. They were literally (I am not exaggerating here) hillbillies.

Finally got the boat transferred over.

This electronic title stuff is beyond stupid. I had to pay to get a paper title printed, then sign it, to get it transferred.

We also made good progress on the Contender 27 Open and will be re-installing everything this week and prepping for non-skid on the deck!
We got these pics last week. He had to do some stuff to get the new fuel lines in, but as you can see that is completed.

My wife replied to him, asking him if he had an ETA. No response.

Create a burner FB account and keep asking about pics of that boat finally finished. Hint that you want to do a big job but only if that boat is done ASAP and looks amazing!
