Accidentally, I still have an old newspaper issue with an article dedicated to this topic The key insight is that aviation is controlled so strictly that the probability of a plane crash is lower by many orders of magnitude than the probabilities of many of the causes of death that people usually don't fear, such as choking. The article recommended a psychotherapeutic course "Летаем без страха" ('We fly without fear') held in Moscow; it still exists; I've never needed to take it, though, and haven't had to fly for 13 years, so I have no first-hand experience.

Ooooh! That is great really! I haven't heard about it...I will be in Moscow in a month and I just MUST to take this course..otherwise there will be nothing left of my liver because the only way to fly for me is to booze
And, yes, you are absolutely right about the probability of a plane crash and I know about statistics and etc...but these are just my panic attacks I can't deal with.
I remember the day when we had a dangerous situation during the flight, I travelled alone and I had to calm myself down somehow.. I repeated thousand times one phrase :
"I can love what I fear and I accept my death".
