Should also add that there are so many grinders in Vegas that the bay (and any other locations for that matter) is so much better for 2/5.

Shoot me a PM if you come to Black Hawk, and refresh your limit HE skills for the juiciest 30/60 game around. Don't forget that everything else is spread limit here.

Down in LA. Mincashed one event. Went to Disneyland to celebrate the roomie's birthday on a slow Wednesday. Playing the 1125 as we speak. Excited for the main on the weekend as well. Those are the cliffs.

In Reno? I'm in town, brought my dad to let him get his video poker fix. Going to be at Atlantis on Sunday. If you're still there we could meet up if you are feeling up to it.

Just made it up to the tournament room, saw your name on the table assignment list, but I think I just missed you. Floorman said 66 vs. 77. Damn. Well, I'm here for the day if you're still around.

We crossed black hawk off the schedule. I decided I don't have enough points to make a decent chase for the top-50 this year. I started halfway through the year and binked that ring, but I skipped too many stops after that. (I didn't even know there was a point system then.)

Here's a post from the friends-and-family blog.

-----

Alright, I’ll admit I’ve been neglecting my blog over the past couple of weeks. I haven’t had any inspiration to post anything because frankly, my trip to LA sucked. The dry runs and losses in tournaments are expected, so what had me so emotionally and mentally drained? Maybe it was the exhausting drive down to LA. Maybe it was the sketchy inn I stayed in right across the street from the cardroom. Maybe it was the awkward people. (Sorry to my LA friends, you guys are still awesome.) If it wasn’t for the Disneyland trip with my roommate and the dinner with my friends, I would have lost my mind. After getting eliminated from the main event twice, I immediately packed my stuff and got out of LA as quickly as possible. I didn’t even bat an eye at the fact that I had my room paid for another night. I just wanted to get back home. After a five-and-a-half hour drive, I got back to the Bay Area and instead of going back to my apartment to knock out, I went straight to my local cardroom. I didn’t even have the will to play any cards, so I pulled up to the bar for a drink. It was when the bartender greeted me so enthusiastically that I realized that I had gotten homesick.

It was great to see all the familiar faces–friends, family, hospitable cardroom employees and formidable poker opponents alike. But why had I gotten so homesick after a relatively short period of time? I had only been gone a couple of weeks visiting Las Vegas, came back for a few days, and then was gone for another week and a half for Los Angeles. After a few days of playing from noon to midnight at my local cardroom it dawned on me that I had grown accustomed to my past routine when I was still playing semi-professionally. From Monday to Friday, I would work my 8 hours in the office, go home to change, and then go to the poker tables to grind out another 6 to 7 hours. Every week was like this for me and even though it meant I was working 70-80 hours a week, it was very much a comfortable cycle. I did it for a year and a half and then I decided to quit work to go full time.

Since then, with all of the travelling and all of the erratic tournament hours, life has been a little more unpredictable. When doing the tournament grind, I sometimes find myself in bed by 3AM and sometimes after an early loss I don’t have the will to find a cash game to play in and I’ll be back in the room by 7PM watching B-rated movies on Comedy Central. I’ve also started to develop a few bad habits such as erring towards convenience for food or guzzling down caffeinated drinks to stay awake. In conjunction with the bad habits that have formed, is the absence or lack of good habits. The unpredictable hours has made it difficult (but I know not impossible) to find time for both exercise and studying.

So I’ve decided it’s time to turn things around for the sake of my physical and mental health, both of which will be highly beneficial to my poker game. Can’t wait to see the results… but first I gotta make sure I survive this bachelor party coming up…

So yeah... I'm back in Sin City! Let's win some trophies.

Edit: Can a moderator change the title to this blog? Something like "amusedlol's transition to full-time" (yeah I know, boring.)
