Downtime Notification for Mon 8/4 Downtime Notification for Mon 8/4

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to give everyone a heads-up that on Monday morning at 2am we will be brining WSOP.com in Nevada offline for about 8 hours to do a major upgrade to the platform. New Jersey will not be included in this upgrade and no interruption of service is expected in NJ.

Tournaments beginning after 8pm on Sunday will be removed from the lobby
SNG’s will not be available after midnight

Beginning at 1:30am we will begin to wind down cash game tables

This release has been in the works for some time now and will bring with it the capabilities for some exciting things players have been asking us for.

First off, let me say that this is the technology component. There are also regulatory and logistical components to everything we do so some of the new capabilities won’t be enabled when we bring the system back up around 10am. We’re simply putting the technology pieces in place and once we obtain regulatory approvals and are confident that the logistics are solid, we’ll be ready to roll them out very quickly.

So with the disclaimers out of the way . . .

We will be deploying the technology infrastructure to support a new geolocation vendor, GeoComply, which is the same WiFi based method that we currently use in NJ. We will still support cellular based geolocation but the default geolocation method will be WiFi-based. This will not be active upon launch but we are hoping to be able to roll out WiFi-based geolocation by late Aug or early Sept.

We will be making changes to the cage deposit process which will negate the need to initiate a chat with Customer Support before making a deposit. Players will be able to initiate the process via email.

We will also be adding functionality which will make it possible to withdraw from the cage as well.

Cage deposit and withdrawal capabilities will not be enabled upon launch. We hope to have the new cage process available by late Aug or early Sept.

The infrastructure to support mobile devices will be included in this release although the actual iOS and Android clients have not been approved by the NV GCB at this time. We have submitted both clients for approval and we will release mobile clients as soon as we have all necessary regulatory approvals. We don’t have a timeline on when this will be but the infrastructure will be in place to roll out the mobile products as soon as the GCB has give us a thumbs-up.

When the system comes back online, new downloads will receive a new client. Players who have already downloaded the client should get a upgrade about 24 hours later.

The following changes will be available in the Windows version of this update.

Rebuy/Add-on enhancements
SnG log out reminder (if you're reg'd for a SnG and try to log out)
Last hand quick view
Additional tourney information in lobby view

The above changes will be coming to the Mac/OSX client later in another big release but we don't have a target date for that yet.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to fire away.

Bill

Sounds good. Well I haven't played on WSOP.com in awhile. But I will deposit again when the geo location allows me to use my phone as a hotspot to play poker on my laptop. So, sounds like early September.

You guys should pump up the advertising once all this has rolled out and is functioning. Marketing marketing marketing.

Can you multi table on the NJ iPad app?

Didn't see anywhere in those notes that you would be completely removing your most popular form of sng games. Can you please explain why this has been done?

reminder about unregistering for Sng's is a well needed feature. Almost every sng I play has a player that just blinds away.

Cool changes bill, but the real question is: Did you fix the wait list bug yet?

It's noon, and I still can't get the client to load. Presumably this is because the client can't connect to the server. Any idea when WSOP.com will be online again?

I live in Vegas, have a WSOP.com acct.,have a Cricket phone, and have not been able to sign-in since Aug. 1.Geo-location says I'm not in Nv.When can I expect to be able to log-in as before?I have the same windows software & Century Link provider I've had for years. TY

New client has not yet shown up to download for current users

Anyone who goes to the Prism TV service will not be able to play on WSOP. That is because while you are still in Nevada, Prism must relocate your IP address to Monroe, Louisiana, the corporate HQ for Century Link. Prism is a very good TV service, but if you use it you are SOL as far as WSOP is concerned.

I too have cricket service and I received an email stating effective 8-1-14 Cricket would no longer be served by the geolocator. I switched to my TMobile seamlessly.
