So this guy aces by 30 is bumhunting me as I start tables. He asked why I won't play him, I told him I would rather play a fish. Yet he keeps following me around to every table I open. Is there anything wrong with just playing my button and then sitting out, till this dumbass gets a clue?

i would tell him 2-3 times to gtfo and if he doesn't I think it's fine to start doing that

I have told him 2 or 3 times, and it seems like he isn't justing screwing with me intentionally at this point. So that's what I am going to do now. If he complains to stars, I'll just explain myself.

If this guy reports you, you're going to have a lot of answering to do to Stars.

perfectly reasonable solution. I had a guy follow me 50 times in a row once, me playing my button every time... hilarious.

I just keep opening new tables while I insult him, and chain steal his buttons + play as slow as I can. That usually kills their motivation.

This guy tony (it's tony and then 3 numbers) likes to try and play me HUHU as well. He says 'I'm gonna bust you' and then I just play one hand and sit out. He's not bad enough to play so far, although he can certainly spew it up. If I were a HUHU specialist I'm sure he'd be gold. Hopefully soon I will be.

yeah he is pretty terrible , id def play him at 10/20 +. He has tilt issues. But lol he always seems to get there vs me, so i quit playing him at 5/10 i don't think i can beat the rake and him.

My guess is not because it's rigged against this guy, but as he said the rake factor.

Sure, if you are a complete peasant you can work hard, go to college, and maybe make some type of middle class life for yourself. But class jumping is largely a big myth portrayed by everyone spouting this American Dream nonsense. By and large, class "falling" doesn't tend to happen either, which should be even more discouraging for people who believe that everything is a level playing field.

The funniest financial TV shows are those "study a millionaire" shows, where they talk to somebody who made it from nothing. It's all just anecdotal, longshot stories from some schmuck that started by selling oranges on a street corner and then turned into a real estate tycoon. Basically it's always a Chris Moneymaker of the business world. 100% selection bias obviously, and the biggest problem is that Americans fall for the selection bias and results-oriented fallacies so hard. We just want to have everything make perfect sense, so we construct a neat cause-and-effect story in our minds.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not chasing the "American Dream." I think most people get it wrong in this regard, mostly due to just being sheep their entire lives and never really thinking about these things philosophically. The only things that really make me happy (maybe content is a better term) are learning and self improvement. Money is nice too, but not if you have to give up all of your waking hours to acquire it.

The key is that I think I am doing it right in my own mind, where I've created my own axioms for happiness and success. I know that working a normal 9 to 5 corporate desk job, making 40k to 80k a year, owning a home, having a family, yada yada, would never make me happy. In fact, I'd view my life as almost a complete failure when it was all said and done. But that path is the one most people would kill for. I wonder how many of them are truly happy.

tl;dr
http://www.paulgraham.com/gap.html

I agree with you about happiness and success, and that in the states (especially socal) we focus too much on material wealth in getting there. I disagree though that the classes are stratified like that.

LOL I didn't expect anyone to actually read that. I thought this thread turned into a big political rant spamfest about homeless people, so I decided to spam it up.

I typed out a short response to what you posted, but I don't want to spam anymore, suffice to say that I'm talking about inheritance and unearned income when I speak of class stratification (and not NBA players or tech industry CEOs). I guess we can just go to AIM or IRC if you want to talk further.
