Here's a hand I had against him last month.

Hero is SB with A5

folds to hero who raises. Seth is in BB and calls.

Flop is 723

Hero bets, Seth raises, hero calls.

Turn is 9

Hero checks, Seth bets, hero calls.

River is Q

Hero bets, Seth calls. Hero shows AQ975 high, Seth mucks AQ974 high.

And I played that badly where?

i dont like the flop raise, i think he's gonna 2barrel basically his whole range on most turns there. also u cant fold to a 3bet what sucks and u will be tempted to showdown UI a lot, what will cost u lots of moneys vs thestrangernit

so i'd just call+call a lot

Can we all just agree that Sethypooh is filling a seat that would be much better used by a loose/passive fish and move on? I spent the day yesterday hunting down short stacking fish. The instant I'd bust one, Seth, MrDurden, or some other 2+2 would instantly fill the seat. Need to find a site you guys don't MMT on, imo.

Oh, and I'd tell you where you played it badly except you play too well already. Just stop it.

Maybe we need a new deal where we say, "Go Home, Bro" instead of "sup"

Obviously a reasonable line, but there's nothing like, terribly wrong with mine either. It just sucks that he was bluffing with the best hand on the river...

Self chatbanned, imo.

yeah that river donk is pretty lol

edit: yeah your line is not terrible, but i think mine is more exploitive

Since Skill started it... you guys were pretty busy turning showdown hands and bluff catchers into bluffs. It is kind of the joy of playing 6m players on HUHU tables; these situations become very profitable. In HU spots, think about how easy to induce you are. Also, think about what value you get out of his barreling. Re-leveling each other trying to bluff out better A-high hands isn't where the cheese is. Since neither one of your opponents is ever folding a better hand than you hold, bluffing is lighting money on fire.

I just played HU with a guy who was a perfect example of this; he'd bet any time when checked to on the turn or river. 7 high? Bets twice. He folded on the big streets if I barreled off, but called about 100% on the flop. Check call the turn and river = instant profits. His turn betting range = 100% of hands that he called PF.

oh sethy is obv value-raising the flop, not bluffing

edit: but youre right too!

I never said you played it badly. Just an example of what other people were saying about how its tough to get you to fold.

SG is probably right that showing that down every time versus me is probably -EV, but I don't think you "real regs" have enough hands with me yet to know that, so nh.

It will probably be at least a month or two before I'm back to 5/10 or 10/20 anyway. I might already play like a nit (by 6m standards anyway), but I need to start managing my BR like one.
07-29-2009 , 07:01 PM
no i said showing it down vs your flop-3betting range is -EV, you cant be that bad that just showing it down is bad

Here's kind of how that thought process went, IIRC. Seth was really active in pots, pretty much running over the table, as many of you are prone to do. I knew up until this point that I had some showdown value, but Doug is incorrect when he says I never fold a hand better than A4. But there really is no such thing as a standard line when you're playing a tough opponent BVB.

So the queen drops on the river. My instinct was that it was 75% that he'd bet again if checked to. So I could check, but I don't want to check and call because my hand strength is a little too low for that. And I can't check/fold because I've gone this far with my wheel draw, ace draw, high card strength. So I donked. I knew that Seth wouldn't buy it as an "lol, I have the queen" bet, but I didn't really think he could put me on total air, and its really tough for him to raise again here with something that doesn't beat a queen.

I was bummed when he called, until his hand got mucked. I had to check the replayer, and saw what happened, and realized I got pretty lucky there.
07-29-2009 , 07:52 PM
Literally the only hand you get value from there...
07-29-2009 , 07:54 PM
river bet is awful and its not even close. ch/c and ch/f are probably close but they're both WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY better than donk.

All donk does is let him fold is bluffs and call with everything that beats you. You're donk is so bad that you're basically going to get WTF called by everything
07-29-2009 , 08:03 PM
I get it. Everyone else is an idiot and you're the expert. If you need that to be true, well best of luck to you sir. I'm sure its a happy, joyful life.
07-29-2009 , 08:21 PM
First of all, it is. Second of all, dont post hands where you play poorly if you're going to cry when people tell you you played poorly

He's not saying it to hurt your feelings. Listen to the message not the manner in which it's delivered.

I will say that if you think I'm going to bet the river that much, you get far more value out of letting me bluff then trying to bluff me, as literally zero of the hands that I will bet that beat you will fold to your river donk.

edit: change the hand to C/C instead of donk the river, and you played it just fine.

Maybe. I cant decide if you should bet the river, which makes it tough to decide if he should call the river
