Yup he's broke. I'm not sure how much he sat with, but he was up to well over 100$ then somehow the table broke up and I said "play me dude" and he played me HU and then the table got back and running and he shipped me most of his chips. It felt nice.

Kasperla is just a maniac. As long as you can stand the increased swings playing him it's EV+. But you need nerves of steel for the frequent suck outs.

he has lag stats but I consider him a fish, seen him openlimp utg several times, spewing postflop like crazy and bluffraises a ton with air when he has 0fe

Ianyi, I firmly believe that Kasperla is good. He goes too far over the line to maximize his winrate, but he is good at poker imo. I dislike playing with him because his style makes it impossible to run over the table. There is simply nobody better at turning a table into a massive spewfest, where he excels. I strongly prefer to have him to my right if I play with him, but that wastes a seat where a real fish could be sitting.

Paul you fall into the "Please self-ban your chat" category as well. Giving coaching lessons to fish while berating them every time you lose is just so amazingly -EV that I drop my mouth open in horror almost every time you type at the tables.

I just played with Alexy and it seems he folds a lot of rivers in big pots to 3 barrels or aggression.

Why do so many good non-americans play on Poker stars? Before my illustrious gov't passed the UIGEA act, I played mostly at Crypto sites and CD Poker, the games were ridiculously soft and just about all of the bad players were non americans, so I am sure they are still there.

I remember looking back through my database at that time and maybe seeing 2% of the players who played close to optimal stats. At poker stars....finding two fish at a 2-4 game is a struggle.

I've found Euro sites to be not that much softer really. The tags and lagtags aren't as good as at Stars, but there are still a lot of them. The rake tends to be higher though at these sites (rackback more or less takes care of that, but some sites still don't have it). I think for small stakes Stars is the best because of the VIP program and low rake. If I ever play above small stakes I don't see how I could stay exclusively at Stars though when I could go anywhere I want.

The other thing for me is that the Euro sites are ghost towns when I want to play.

Played with 13Demon for thefirst time in about 4 months today and he was doing weird horrible stuff (ton of limping/cold calling). My stats from a while ago suggested he's solid.

yeah it's funny how all US guys think Euro sites are sheer heaven. They may have been, back in the day, but now they pretty much suck for LHE. Hardly any tables, even those few tables generally suck, rake is 2x+ higher than on Stars and FT. I have played on most Euro networks and imo for small stakes LHE nothing even comes close to Stars at the moment.

Try to read this, BBB's 5k post + well. Have a hanky ready, you'll cry. Losing month? LOL. How about 700-1000 BB downswings and 100k hand breakeven stretches? BigBadBabar is a monster on the tables, imo. If it can happen to him, worse can happen to you and me. You have no idea. If your longterm winrate is under 2BB/100, the question is when will you have your first > 500BB downer. Of course, until you've had your "fair share" of downers, you won't know your true longterm winrate.

Until you've played a lot of hands, you have no idea what the long run is like. Also, you can tilt, have holes in your game, or see other bad things outside of luck. I think Absolution posted some very scary sims to show off the math of luck. If you play worse because you have bad luck (and most of us do), things can get out of hand quickly. A big BR + willingness to move down is your friend.

Note: having a cat is -EV.

Plan was to buy a cat (~100 BB) to make the gf happy so that I can play more poker and focus better. In reality I have barely time to play and if I play I suck. I wonder how people manage to play with babies...
