While there is no mention in the Bill of Right as to "bare arms", millions bare their arms, necks, and even heads every day. As to the popular liberal assertion that "militia" means National Guard, think about it elo. Use that big brain you claim to have - why on earth would the Founding Fathers want to protect the National Guard in the Bill of Rights?
The US used to be "protected" (term used loosely) by a civilian militia. Now it is "protected" by a nationally organized and trained voluntary force. So it seems ..........

You know what? **** you, you douchetroll, you don't deserve it. Go get cancer.

Sometimes American fundamentalists scare me more than Islamic fundamentalists.

I'm not judging. I just can't think the same way you guys do due to my environment being so different.

Interesting reading fwiw. Looks like the common Aryan citizen was allowed to have firearms, and the Jewish/Gypsy populace would have been very ill-equipped to succeed in a armed rebellion.

Hearty lol @ "nothing the common person could do about it". The common people were the very ones responsible for democratically electing both the Weimar Republic leaders (who in 1928 passed the first gun control laws) and the Nazis. Why does the average citizen always get a pass? The average person is ignorant, perpetually afraid and generally worthy of condemnation.

Islamic fundies are worse in terms of direct danger to others, but I don't think they're much different when it comes to slavish adherence to dogma and hatred of those who hold opposing views.

Haha I just realized I posted the same link as poopadoop. Google ftw. Not reading every post before responding ftl.

Only because some fundamentalist groups still have it too good to blow up themselves for the greater good. Add some anger and desperation and any fundamental is a bad thing imo.
The funny thing is they even admit it themselves that they need each other to grow more powerful. Polarization is a dangerous thing and it is happening in a lot of countries these days.

yep, I pretty much agree with all of that

“In Federalist Paper 46, James Madison addressed the concern that a standing federal army might conduct a coup to take over the nation. He argued that this was implausible because, based on the country's population at the time, a federal standing army couldn't field more than 25,000-30,000 men. He then wrote:
Quote:
‘To these would be opposed a militia amounting to near half a million of citizens with arms in their hands, officered by men chosen from among themselves, fighting for their common liberties, and united and conducted by governments possessing their affections and confidence.'

btw, when you discuss a serious topic and say a bunch of stupid things about it, and people point out the weakness/absurdity of your arguments, that's not trolling.
Most of your posts are troll posts.

Never heard that argument before but there is more to the 2nd amendment than I thought.

You took a perfectly innocuous QUESTION (as I ****ing directly stated in the post) and took it as a sweet opportunity to troll me AND to further your dumbass birther gunfag agenda. It should have been so unnecessary to write this, since I stated I was actually mildly pro-gun. It clearly never occurred to you that it's possible for somebody to be neither completely on your side NOR the other side. Because that's not how politics work on the short bus.

You call ME paranoid. Yet you are the one thinking your Fisher Price My First Firearm bull**** is going to stop the apparently inevitable Obama Superdroid Military Juggernaut. Please, son. By Day 2 you're gonna be fully reeducated and slurping up Big Brother's cumropes like a common LA crackwhore.

LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT

But no worries, have fun jizzing off in your Turner Diaries copy once again tonight. Be careful though, the pages where the perma-maligned white Christian male FINALLY puts one through the skull of a NWO stormtrooper are getting a little sticky.

You truck-nutz having, Budweiser swilling ***. Go wrap yourself in the flag so tight you auto-erotic asphyxiate yourself like David Carradine.

I already regret making that post.

It contained too many polysyllabic words. It's going to go right over his head.

So I'm laughing at elo's post and my gf starts reading the thread over my shoulder. She's on an art forum where everyone praises everyone's work and works as a support group. She says why is everyone so angry on this forum. So I tell her that poker is not about the cards but about manipulating peoples emotions and we are all practicing. She seemed good with that.

I'd much rather be on a forum where people challenge my views and opinions rather than where it's all just a big circle jerk and participation medal crap.

Yeah +1000. I've spent plenty of time on sites like that (mostly music, but also graphic design) and they are just devoid of real critique and analysis. I can barely even read other internet forums having been on 2p2 for so long.
