Re: Discussion regarding the state of LHE cash games!

I am currently developing a new site that takes care of all the problems listed in this thread.

You can see the thread here https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/45...e-see-1280010/

I go into more detail on the blog http://blog.*******************.com

If there's anything else you think should be added especially if specific to limit games let me know.

Please report this to support@pokerstars.com. I've reported about fifteen people in the past year and they've always done thorough investigations and taken action like suspending peoples accounts

I sent an email (my first one ever about a player) and it's been 20 days with no response except for the front line support saying a specialist will get in touch with you etc.

There are about 50 regs I can think of that are doing the same or similar type of thing to various degrees.

One idea I think will help the waitlist bumhunters who only join tables if it's filled with recreationals is to change the time to sit from 1 minute down to 10 seconds. These waitlist bumhunters seem to take the full minute to decide to sit or not. (or maybe they take that minute to collect hand data) lord knows what 3rd party software is out there to do this.

Re: Discussion regarding the state of LHE cash games!

It usually does take a while but not twenty days, more like 10-15 days whenever I've reported. I would send them another to follow-up on it. I believe they have people that are dedicated to doing the research on "grimmers". From the emails they've sent me it sounds like it's a common problem and they have specific ways to detect it.

I'm sorta surprised that the software will still let you play one hand and quit without paying a bb.

Re: Discussion regarding the state of LHE cash games!

TP,
FYI it is always allowed (according PS support) to sitout as first player at a table as long as you sitout at all your tables at first available chance as well. I know you and at least one other reg out there at mid/high are under the impression that if you sitout whenever bb is on you and fish has under ~5BB at tbl, that this is by default a reason for reporting, but it really isnt.
Some people need to actually take breaks a couple of times per hour, for various reasons, so some times if I didnt have the possibility to do it whenever a fish was short then it really would be a big obstacle for me. And ofc PS would then have to define a threshold for what is considered "short of funds", and I guess they dont want to go down that route, yet anyway.

thats all, cheers!

If you legitimately need a break, then of course there's no problem. But if you're intentionally taking a break anytime the recreational player is under 5 BB's, then that is a problem because if everyone does that, then we have tables full of people sitting out every time a recreational player gets under 5 BB's.

I'm assuming I said something to you at the table about it, I don't exactly remember. If I did it was very likely because I saw you do it multiple times (I can check this in HEM if you think I'm mistaken ). We've played a grand total of 589 hands this year and I can't remember a single session longer than thirty minutes so hopefully you can understand my concern when the few breaks you take coincide with a recreational player being under 5 BB's.

The last three posts illustrate perfectly the problem of writing terrible rules and forcing the players to police the games. That **** does not work. Never has, never will.

My point is that when you or others for that matter take on the responsibilty of policing the games then you need to make damn sure you are doing it by the rules that PS set. Otherwise we are all just wasting time and energy.

So to clarify what i am talking about: If you know you need to take one 2min break within the next 10 minutes it is allowed according to PS to be smart about it. The point is that you need to sitout at all your tables and as long you are the first player to sit out then no PS-rule is broken.
I also dont think this should be a problem for the other regs. I certainly wouldnt mind playing shorthanded with a short fish anyway, and i think most wouldnt. Also we are now not taking up a seat unnecessary because quitting is obviously not something we are intending to do.

As for reasons to take breaks that shouldnt be something for any of us to care about. If it becomes a problem a PS-rep can come to my house and they can see what kind of distractions i have running around sometimes.

I don't get it... Why would someone sit out when a player has <5BB?
Small pot, high rake? Afraid of being buttoned when player busts?

I did, about 2 weeks ago. No reply yet.

I haven't noticed much of it going on in the past few days. Did Stars do something? Or maybe the new lobby view just makes it look cleaner.

That has to be because youre SNE. My experience is that they do absolutely nothing. As I'm typing this there are 26 (twenty-six) 3/6 ring game tables open with 1 player sitting.

I think this has some merit.

Over 3 weeks and still no reply for me.

I'd ask people who care about LHE to get involved in the thread in the internet forum to decide who goes to represent players interests with Stars. Since the inception of these nothing has changed for LHE and we've had 0 promotions (Besides Daniel Negreuno's cameo ). Please help push the agenda of LHE as to date it's fallen on deaf ears.

They promised stuff when Hood went years ago and took no action apart from a lolworthly thread about shortstacking (in a forum about live US games). From Stars POV they have the lowest rake in the industry so that's it. It doesn't matter that the lowest rake in the industry is still huge hence games dying everywhere else, they'll only make changes if it increases their bottom line. They've repeatedly said since reneging on their promise that they won't promote LHE as they don't promote specific games... despite relentlessly promoting NLHE and recently promoting HU SNGs. It's not falling on deaf ears, they're hearing just fine. They're just choosing to ignore us.

They clearly stated that PS only promised one LHE promo. And that was that Daniel's HU match. No other promos. That's it.

In case some of you guys arent aware of it, there are actually other sites out there as well for LHE. No reason to give PS an unconditional loyalty. Never quite understood why so many want to play only there, but I suspect it is based on an illusion portrayed by PS management that they are the only site that actually cares about the poker players. This is ofc not the case, and I feel if more people realized this then it would over time create better competition among the sites and thereby better games.

Re: Discussion regarding the state of LHE cash games!

What site or sites do you suggest?

I like the rake at merge but the long cashouts and them offering play to the US concerns me should they become a target of the US Govt now that regulation is on it's way.

Re: Discussion regarding the state of LHE cash games!

I was hoping for ideas to improve the overall quality of games. Promos are always nice but doing specific LHE promos will not change the fundamental challenges LHE is facing nor will rake reduction.

The challenge is that players are using extreme methods to getting a jesus seat and/or free cards. The very bad players in the games are pretty much the same every day with way too few unknowns at stakes where there should be a ton and you cant blame possible newcomers to be hesitant of sitting/feeling hunted when the lobby looks like this

Maybe if some high stakes angler is reported Stars will take action but that certainly isn't the case at low stakes. I have reported maybe 10 mostly russians/thais of blind stealing only to get a standard reply.

I think 2 not running tables should be the maximum at each stake with the system booting players unwilling to post their first big blind and if this is systematically repeated they should get banned from starting tables.

A limit on how many seats you can turn down in a running 24 hour period before you lose the ability to sign up for a waitlist would be great as well.

Please voice your ideas on how to improve the software to get recs playing LHE instead of PLO/hyperSNGs.

I've never heard of this... could you please provide examples of how this happened and a list of the banned players?

Also would like to thank PlsFold for this thread once again. I certainly hope that his suggestions are brought up at the Player/Stars meetings in April.

Funny thing happened today...

Full 6-max table with one "really good" rec player.
This player lost a big pot, got only <2BB left and table broke in a matter of seconds.
And he said... "I lost 40$ and YOU are leaving?" Then he left too...
We are slowly but steadily killing LHE.

Just for the record, I was "only" observing this table, to get JS obv :P
