This is ofc not the case, and I feel if more people realized this then it would over time create better competition among the sites and thereby better games.
I had no idea there were other reputable places to play besides stars; in fact I have no idea what sites you could be talking about. Poker players don't share this stuff because they don't want their fish ponds getting wrecked.

u are joking right?

In the time it took you to write that post you could have googled your way to a top 5 list of good networks. Spend another 15mins and you could have downloaded all the softwares to check out the games.

Maybe I'm just too cynical. I don't trust random ranking sites with affiliate links

"We dont run promotions for specific games"

SO SICK

50% extra VPP's + FPP's for Omaha next week on Stars, they've started promoting specific games despite that being the reason they didn't follow through on their promises from the first meeting. Hopefully we get something but maybe we're just too small a player pool nowadays to get noticed.

FLH have exactly SAME traffic as PLO. I wroted really angry email to support.

Unlike FTP, the PS promotion is only running "happy hours" throughout the week. I think its only 4 individual hour blocks per day next week where you are eligible to earn extra VPPs.

I believe the PLO community has been putting much more pressure on the sites to reduce rake than the LHE has recently. I also think a lot more people see it as a game of the future.

It doesn't surprise me they decided to promote PLO first. I think its somewhat expected. I will however be surprised and disappointed if they don't follow suit with a similar LHE in the near future.

Slide I think your assessment is 100% accurate. We as a tiny community need to unite with a cohesive unified voice to have our game be given consideration. Stars reps have shunned the LHE community... have flip flopped on their positions of promoting specific games and we need help.

I'd be shocked if they don't give us a happy hour week... but this is long overdue. Personally I'd like to see our promo not just be about extra VPP as this will only lead to 1 good week of playing for us but I'd like it to incorporate some aspects of the Zoom promo to make it more fun for newcomers. Some of these newcomers might end up enjoying the game and it can stay. An example would be any str8 flush earns you a bonus 25bb. This makes playing 54s suddenly more playable and the game would open up.

Imo in limit , it is not the rake that is the pro lem but rather the pool of players shrinking everyday
03-21-2013 , 02:05 PM
Good point ^

How would the community feel about a promo where only Silver star and less received extra VPP's for playing LHE.

This directly wouldn't benefit us but if some of those who tried the game ended up staying it certainly would.

Completely agree! Nowadays there are a lot of problems in FL and I can't see that Pokerstars would do anything against that. Well, I don't say, that FL is dead, I think it is still possible to get some amount of money with FL but for me it is more and more uncomfortable. For example I have to spend more time in lobby to find good tables or a lot of times I have to play at late night because at afternoon / early night I can't find good tables (I live in Europe).

Well, I think all of us play FL, because we like it. I think it is a really fun game, there are much more action compared to MTTs for example. So I don't mind that FL is less profitable compared to NL, PLO or Hyper SnGs if the difference is small. But I feel that the difference is increasing and I think Pokerstars don't really care about that

I can't wait for the post from PokerstarSteve bragging how these meetings directly led to promotions for specific games.

Im assuming there will be a LHE promo at some point, but honestly it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't. Despite the spin they keep putting on things, they have stopped listening us.

The PLO promo is also attempting to bring in new players through promoting a few extra PLO tourneys and offering a couple PLO tourney tokens through a deposit bonus. I have no idea how effect this would be for LHE, but it would definitely be a step in the right direction. I could be wrong, but I don't expect silver star type players to really care much about earning an extra couple VPPs.

I think running some type of bonus hand promotion for cash games would be a great idea. Could you imagine what the games would be like if they added a win a hand with 72 bonus.

The reason I brought up the extra VPP's if Silver or below is because Stars likely wouldn't mind giving out those extra VPP's to those players. It's the SN+ Players they don't want to give them to. And to a degree they have a point.

The any str8flush idea with the boom replayer runs with the same concept as the 7-2 idea. I honestly think if they had a str8 flush promo going year round they would make more money then they do now. The game would open up as 34s somehow becomes a callable hand in the hopes of hitting the str8flush. This leads to more rake and the game becomes fun again.

Since pokerstars steve seems to read stuff when you pm them and this topic is already pretty long, I'll summon some questions we'd really like to get answered.
I don't think I'm lying when I say these are the issues we care about the most (in order of importance).
It would be really nice if pokerstars could reply, even if it's just a "we don't know" or "we're not going to do that".
If other players like to add a question, feel free obviously.

Pictures are included since reading about LHE can be boring to some.

- It is clear pokerstars is working on the issues of grimming, bumhunting, table-sitting and other 'moral' issues. Since LHE has the most problems with this, and usually the issues start at LHE and spread out to other games, we'd like to get some kind of timeframe for some of the issues. Pokerstars has asked us for our input only once, in the most non-issue subject there is in LHE, namely shortstacking. (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/53...games-1209621/) Why is this not possible for things that actually matter?
Most of us would happily be the beta-testers for possible fixes which, if proven successful, could be rolled out to other games.
aka we really need this urgently.

- Some of these issues might be of lesser importance in big bet games. Is pokerstars considering applying certain fixes to LHE only, or will everything need to be NLHE-proof?

- I'll quote pg_780 from this topic about the issues of rake:
Quote:
As a frame of reference:

1/2 to 2/4= 50% decrease
2/4 to 5/T = negligible
5/T to T/20= 50% decease
T/20 to 15/30= 33% decrease

Why???
We are well aware of the fact pokerstars has the best rake in the business and it's hard to counter this fact. I'll try to give an analogy: say there are 10 rabbits injured. Most of them died already and some are lost beyond all hope. Should we look at the longest surviving rabbit and say: he has the least injuries of all rabbits, there's clearly no reason to fix him?

This being said, most of us agree the influx of new players and fixing of the hostile environment are more important for the survival of the game.

- Since there are PLO promos now, we expect there will be LHE promos in the future?

- LHE is not a great tournament game, but non the less I'll point out some issues with the latest micro millions and other tournaments. Both LHE events are turbo. This is something NLHE players would like, since you'll get quickly to the all-in stages. We only get 2 tournaments, maybe one of them should be for actual LHE players?

I understand why you need to promote the zoom tournament, but this issue keeps coming back: why can I freeroll a ticket to NLHE events and not to a 5.5$ ticket which I can use for LHE? Why could I redeposit for a free 20$ wcoop ticket, while there where no 20$ LHE events? These are game specific promotions that can easily be converted to an all-game promotion.

I can understand why stars are running an Omaha promo. Omaha is much more popular than lhe on other sites. They're trying to attract all those people.

But LHE is most popular in the US. It's also popular with an older demographic which may have been worried about playing online. With new regulation coming in the US these older people (who are the ones with money) may give LHE a shot. So it's in Pstars best interest to have LHE as a viable option should they be allowed back in the US.

Actually the only reason they are having the Omaha promotion is that they just rolled out two new types of omaha where each player gets 5 cards. Maybe we need to think outside the box and figure out a change to the game to make it more exciting for players...something like crazy pineapple that UB used to have.

And you're so sure of this how? Disagree with making changes to LHE to attract players. LHE should be a perfect game for fish - lots of action but you can't lose your whole stack in a single hand. The problem with LHE is essentially marketing; NL has a much bigger and cooler image and Omaha has always been more popular in Europe.

I don't think this is the case. I could be wrong but does the promo even apply to the new variations or is it just your standard PLO games?

I do agree LHE could definitely use some publicity or something to shake things up.

Who knows when that's going to be? I'm all for LHE promos but I don't think it's easy to make the case that it's in Stars best interest to promote LHE over other games.

I certainly don't think it should be over other games. But the DN LHE HU match doesn't qualify as a promo. The zoom promo was outstanding. I don't play NL zoom, but for that week I did, as I was determined to win one of the special hands of the day. I think the majority of LHE players want something similar to that. PSSteve hinted that we should expect something like that and I hope it can help kick start a shrinking game.
