George Washington and The American Revolution
Thomas Jefferson, The Louisiana Purchase
Andrew Jackson, The Trail of Tears
Abraham Lincoln, slavery, and The American Civil War
Woodrow Wilson, World War I
Franklin D. Roosevelt, World War II, and The New Deal
Dwight Eisenhower, The Korean War
John F. Kennedy, The Vietnam War, man walks on the moon, JFK assassination
Richard Nixon, Watergate
Jimmy Carter, Iran hostage crisis
Yeah, American historical people and events are totally only relevant for thirty years! lolz! No wonder talking to a Trump supporter about politics is like trying to show a card trick to a dog!
this is just elitism, you don't have to know american history down to jamestown and plymouth rock to have intelligent discussion.
To discuss nk and america all the history you have to know is the basic outline of the korean war. ie all the relevant stuff. all the other stuff is incredibly irrelevant to this topic.
a)nk and sk split after ww2 into soviet sphere and american sphere
b) nk attacked sk first to reunify
c)US and UN allies came to sk aid and pushed NK to the yalu river which is its border with china
d) china strikes deal with soviets, soviets return Dalian (Port Arthur)+other Manchurian holding and china enters war.
e)china pushes US+UN allies to the 37th parallel and an armistice signed no peace treaty is signed and the two nations are still at war to this day.
thats it, thats all the historical knowledge I'd expect you to have. You dont' need to know the names of a historical general to make an intelligent point about NK/US relations.
