George Washington and The American Revolution
Thomas Jefferson, The Louisiana Purchase
Andrew Jackson, The Trail of Tears
Abraham Lincoln, slavery, and The American Civil War
Woodrow Wilson, World War I
Franklin D. Roosevelt, World War II, and The New Deal
Dwight Eisenhower, The Korean War
John F. Kennedy, The Vietnam War, man walks on the moon, JFK assassination
Richard Nixon, Watergate
Jimmy Carter, Iran hostage crisis

Yeah, American historical people and events are totally only relevant for thirty years! lolz! No wonder talking to a Trump supporter about politics is like trying to show a card trick to a dog!
this is just elitism, you don't have to know american history down to jamestown and plymouth rock to have intelligent discussion.

To discuss nk and america all the history you have to know is the basic outline of the korean war. ie all the relevant stuff. all the other stuff is incredibly irrelevant to this topic.

a)nk and sk split after ww2 into soviet sphere and american sphere
b) nk attacked sk first to reunify
c)US and UN allies came to sk aid and pushed NK to the yalu river which is its border with china
d) china strikes deal with soviets, soviets return Dalian (Port Arthur)+other Manchurian holding and china enters war.
e)china pushes US+UN allies to the 37th parallel and an armistice signed no peace treaty is signed and the two nations are still at war to this day.

thats it, thats all the historical knowledge I'd expect you to have. You dont' need to know the names of a historical general to make an intelligent point about NK/US relations.

Again, just like your "not everyone likes Ike" comment, you're misrepresenting what I'm saying.

I'm not saying you have to have a degree in American History, I'm not saying you have to know all the minute details of the major events and political figures in American history, I'm saying if you've never even heard of, in this case, Dwight Eisenhower, you have no business discussing American politics, particularly America's relationship with North Korea. I'm also not talking about a mere military General, I'm talking about the President.

You're also contradicting yourself. The events you described happened more than thirty years ago. Furthermore, mongidig does not meet your criteria described above. They've never even heard of Dwight Eisenhower, they're not going to know any of those things.

ok fine maybe mondigig should read up a bit about the the history of the 2 koreas before posting more in this specific thread

but the point is you can discuss most subjects in this forum knowing only Reagan forward.

1. Agree
2. Completely absurd. Allow me to demonstrate.

"Hi! I'd like to discuss race relations in 2017 in America! Slavery? The American civil war? What's that stuff? Abraham Lincoln? Who's that? ... oh wait, is he the guy that made that iced tea?"

"I think you're thinking of Lipton iced tea ..."

"... so is that the guy?"

alright I concede it is better to have a cursory knowledge of American history before discussing American politics

Obviously!

Well, I know about Kentucky Fried Chicken and Elvis.

Will that get me in?

Iron Tamer is definitely among the higher IQ of the deplorables, but alt-right YouTubes have chewed holes through his brain, so it is inconsistent.

Really makes you wonder what sort of agenda they have with a thread titled "President Trump" like that pile of garbage is their president.

Mindless trolls with too much time on their hands, probably single/divorced, jobless and don't have the imagination to do anything better with their sad lives than troll online.

I do believe that your lack of ability to read English is genuine.

For too long the US has been one of the only country's that plays by the rules. It's time we level the playing field. It's like a guy who lets his girlfriend physically abuse him and doesn't fight back because she's a girl. If a girl hits me, she's gonna get punched back and so should the US.

I think the US should take out NK with a massive show of force. If at anytime it appeared that NK was gonna launch a nuke we should drop one on peeyongyang. There would be very few casualties since no one lives there.

The rest of the world..Iran, Afghanistan, Russia, Etc would be sure to take notice and fall in line.

That first sentence you posted was very hurtful, but when you added that last part...WOW! That really hit home.

In your wretchedly stupid analogy there's also the choice of walking away (which hardly applies in this case if NK starts bombing other countries).

I think there's a high chance of you or BroadwaySoShyt having been in jail for some violent act.

In my analogy the US has been the dude who has walked away but is still being punched. How is that working out?

I would ask if you think Trump should adopt the Bush doctrine, but you'd just look at me like a cocker spaniel after being shown an ace of spades. At least you'd have some American company with Sarah Palin ... you can look her up.

Again, why are you saying "we"?

How do you figure this is analogous to the USA/NK situation?

thats his title, president trump

anybody addressing trump in a formal manner should call him president trump whether he be american, canadian or russian

and I'm sure every state on this planet would be glad to have trump rn, imagine Trump instead of Trudeau, absolutely glorious, or trump instead of May, other people on this planet are looking at the USA with envy right now.
