I post here for freedom of information and to challenge ideas.

People like JJ want me to shut up and call me disruptive, after admitting to taking anything I post with blinders on.

I both argue and discuss, and seek excellence in doing so. JJ can poo poo my posting, but he and many others would have to respond to many ideas I have offered to matter one little bit to my mind.

If you don't like my ideas, challenge them. I'll argue to out-argue and discuss to discuss. Ain't no moves faking.

I post here because it's pretty much a giant banter forum with some politics thrown in. Teasing morons is fun but I've also learnt and changed views from discussions in here about (for example) sexism - I've found there's more general discussion about certain concepts in here as opposed to Politics which tends to be more specific (certain bills, events, mostly US-centric stuff). I do read the main forum but I'm ignorant enough that I hardly ever think there's a point to me posting in there, so I lurk.

Self-modding threads seems kinda stupid, wasn't it a spank idea originally? Threads are a thing that just happen on their own, if I don't like the way some idiot is posting about a subject I'm not gonna go create a playpen where we can specifically discuss it my way. There should just be consistent standards for keeping idiots in line across the whole forum.

As for why the anti-bigot crowd posts here: because if we didn't this would just be a section of 2p2 that takes it for granted that bigotry is cool. Is that a forum that seems valuable for 2p2 to have?

There are no real, legitimate issues to be discussed here. I don't care at all why someone posts here but my general assumption was that people that cared about banning trolls cared at least some what for discussing issues. I still think that's generally true.

I mean, this forum was created so special people like sputnik can post their dumb opinions, let people say what they say. I personally wouldn't ban them until they become a caricature of themselves, at that point ban away.

It was created to give LirvA an outlet that wouldn't get him perma-banned, and so Alex could whine incessantly about wookie without getting perma-banned.

That's about it.

It's hard to know exactly why PU is working but it seems to be working fairly well. Part of the reason for it that those complaining about bigots are so bigoted and maybe confuse being bigoted with being PC. Similar with trolling.

Another is that although politics probably benefits most from a lot of moderation to keep trolls at bay, conversation civil and OT etc its a massive job and may not be realistic within the current model. Self-modded threads could work brilliantly both in unchained and within more constrained P like forum where the bulk of the moderating could then be done by the person (or people) most interested in the topic and most likely to respond quickly.
