Then why does Monsanto need to engineer plants that are roundup resistant?

So that you can plant an entire field of roundup resistant crops and then spray roundup on there to kill all the weeds.

Do you avoid eating GMOs?

I hate to #ikesIsRight, but how is GMO labeling any more or less important than knowing anyone named "Steve" handled the food during processing?
07-11-2015 , 10:16 AM
Have you met Steve? He's pretty gross.

Another quality soul read by Ikes!

I thought I made that clear earlier, I don't.

If there was a large vocal group of consumers who cared about the Steveness of their food then I would say consumers have a right to know that information. I think the food companies see what happened in Europe when consumers could make an informed choice and instead of trying to educate consumers on the safety of GMO foods they spend money preventing legislation from being passed mandating labeling.

It's not a soul read. It's really ****ing obvious. We can see your cards bro. You've put them on the table.
07-11-2015 , 10:56 AM
Do you really think the antiGMO crowd would see educational material from GMO producers as anything other than propaganda?

I mean, we can bring up the whole anti-vax persecution complex thing, if you'd like. Seems tangentially related

I don't know. Conservatives have done a great job at making the public reject science and intellectuals so we may never be able to get back to being able to have scientific evidence presented without being questioned. But the "why bother they won't believe it anyway" strategy doesn't seem overly effective.

LOL, someone calls you out and you instantly can see into their heart of hearts. You really are terrible.
07-11-2015 , 03:19 PM
Please, if your call out wasn't completely self-contradictory you'd have a point. Since you think the free market is when the government forces you to do something, you're just a simpleton that is capable of reading someone else's talking points without actually understanding them.

The only way to know the exact source and nature of how your food is produced is if it is accurately labeled.

Or telepathy with a bunch of farmers, educators, engineers, scientists, CEOs, and marketers.

You can't pin this one on conservatives. Plenty of liberals will simply choose not to believe the recent report that showed how homeopathic "medicine" is complete bollocks.

There is a faith-based wing of the liberal side, but instead of deities, their religion is pseudo-science fantasies and hucksters peddling snake oil.

I think the free market is a world full of Wal Marts and Prophs. I was mocking your stupid opinion that giving consumers less information will let them make a more informed choice in their purchases.

Please show where I said this. Feel free to shut the **** up until then.

LMAO, Ikes is the most misunderstood poster in PU and we all thought it was Spanky...

no, you're just a moron looking for an escape from a stupid position. There's no misunderstanding.

This is such a good post

Such a strawman. Yes there are silly hippies and new age freaks. It's hardly a mainstream part of liberals. George Bush, the POTUS, was the instrument of the religious right. Who is the instrument of this lunatic left? Ben Affleck? Jenny McCarthy?
07-12-2015 , 01:49 AM
This is a very weird thread.

There is no credible threat to human health from eating gmos. So? Who are you talking to? If you wanted to chat with Jim Russell try PMing him.

Low key was simply pointing out that anti-GMO and anti-vax nonsense comes from the left not the right. His description as "faith-based" was right on.

Mostly true, I guess. It's not like that crap is exclusively on the left though. All kinds of people wear copper bracelets, a very conservative client of mine wanted emf shielding... that line of thinking may be more tolerated on the left, but it's hardly exclusive. Which president had an astrologer?

W/e. Low Key is a huge liberal vegetarian. Maybe he just doesn't want people thinking he's sitting in a pyramid rubbing crystals.
