LOL, yea in skin color only. If you ever talked to him on the phone you'd have no idea he was black. Loves golf, hates Obama.

This story is not about racism but rather pretty poor profiling. My house is on a steep grade down to the lake and my yard consists of rock/trees/mulch. I have a load of rock delivered and was filling buckets and dumping them on the spots that where rain had created gullies. A neighborhood association lady driving buy and ask me if the owner knew I was taking their rocks. I laughed and told her it was my house which she accepted and drove on.
I am probably one of the few people in the hood that screws with yard work but still, rock stealing? How you gonna eat swiping 5 dollars worth of rock?

This happened today my gf is busting my white, old balls over it.

I was playing poker at Winstar and I overheard a guy next me talking about "how all those Mexicans are taking over!!!" He sees me and realizes I can hear him and looks at me and says sorry I didn't mean you. I was like WTF? I am a white dude. Granted I have a nice shade of brown in the summer due to me having some melanin (American Indian grandmother) and a pool. Man, people are effing retarted. Especially Oklahoma racists.

No reverse racism claims in here?

Justification for using the word wasis on 2p2?

Also, 99% of 2p2 is kinda racist, prerequisite, right?

That same year I had a bottle thrown at me while riding my bike through Denver and was cursed at for being a 'gringo'. Not that long ago I was told my yard looked like a N-words yard because I was little late getting the mowing done. I took another beating from some gangbangers while trying to stop them from beating my friend for wearing a kilt. They thought he was gay. Yeah that's not racist you might say. Well, I cannot discern the quality of that experience from the others. Same with being bullied as a child for having a speech impediment.

Hate is hate, ignorance is ignorance, the quality doesn't change because the condition which is hated is different.

To share experiences of racism and engage in discussion about them.

I don't exactly buy into that notion. Racism applies to a person being discriminated against or judged by their skin color, whichever color that maybe.

I do understand revenge racism, which, imo, is a more accurate term for when a person who has experienced racism responds by acting racist themselves.

I did miss it, sorry. And sorry you had to endure those encounters.

Do you think it'll do much good in a sub-forum with about 30-40% race-tinged thread topics already that all lead to dead-ends?

Did you know he was from Oklahoma or did you just prejudge him as such? 95% of the player pool at Winstar is from Texas. On a side note, not sure that the comment that Mexicans are taking over is necessarily racist. Where I live (Mexico North) they have already taken over.

I've learned never to try and predict what a thread's outcome is going to be. I do think that hearing people's experiences helps create understanding even if it is not apparent. I also think that sharing difficult experiences is worthwhile and is better than denial or avoidance.

When I was a kid, we were visiting my paternal grandmother and her husband. My step grandfather started explaining how it was OK to hire a black housekeeper but that you had to "bait" her as a test by leaving cash in plain sight to make sure that she was not a thief.

My mother flipped and got in a big argument with him.

I was at a party in the south about twenty years and somehow ended up talking to this sorority girl who explained that she would be totally cool with dating a black guy but for the fact that she didn't want to embarrass her parents.

Those 2 are pretty weak sauce, Rococo.

No, they're fine.

1- First class party in NOLA. End up in a bar afterwards and run into a guy wearing a frat shirt with a confederate flag and a racist slogan on it. Think it was for my school, but whatever. Happen to be with a black girl in my class. She sees it, says, 'that's the south for ya' and kept drinking. Was weird because it was probably the only time I saw a black person's reaction to overt racism live.

2- Visit my college buddy's parents because they have some pretty sweet ATVs and some land to use em. We go ATVing and his mom makes us this amazing meal. On top of that she drives us to the bar like 10 miles away and says she'll pick us up when we're good and drunk. On the ride home she goes on and on about the n****** in this other nearby town. It was super awkward and friend apologized profusely right after.

3- Typical grandma racism with pretty severe dementia getting mad about the 68 riots

The owner of restaurant I once bartended at was notorious for that. He'd have someone he knew come in and they would "forget'"something valuable on the table. Watch, earrings, camera, wallet with cash and a couple people got fired for trying to keep stuff.

In fact, that's pretty much a good indicator of not being a horrible person.

I don't know, doesn't register with me.

Last year my workout instructor asked me if I could help move this one chick from class furniture into her home because the chick was moving away and she didn't need some of the stuff anymore.

As we were moving stuff I had put down some stuff to take a break and the two women were having a discussion about politics/black people and I wasn't really paying attention even though I could tell they were talking about black people. Nothing like dropping N-bombs or anything, just saying some stereotypes I think. And then the woman was like, "oh sorry, I hope that didn't offend you."

"Why on earth would I be offended, I'm not black." And they laughed.

I don't know, kinda seems like the logical response.

I guess, if you think those stereotypes are true I'm sure that does seem like the logical response.

Doesn't matter if they are true or not. If someone starts going off on black people, why the hell would I be offended?

If someone was going off on Jews and I overheard, I'd be offended enough to speak up. Doesn't matter if it applies to me personally or not.

You have a workout instructor?
