no, it's not a necessary thing. the government does not need to guarantee an equal outcome for everyone by discriminating against certain groups based on skin color. they only need to guarantee an equal playing field. your individual outcome should depend on the things you do.

historically, they didn't have an even playing field. now they do.

when this chess game of america started, the white side had a bunch of extra pieces. now both sides are playing by the same rules. the white side still has a lot of extra pieces (because of their unfair start) and BLM would like to reach across the game board and slap a few pawns out of play. or maybe just turn the board over.
