For the general welfare of the forums? Do we need a forum ID law? Or can users just post them voluntarily? Whatever.

ITT We can make a running list of volunteers or confirmed outings. Dole out some red letter Gs to those found guilty of tricky gimmicks. If you are in to that type of stuff.

Here in the thread we can also discuss the controversial conspiracy theories of who is what gimmick at the least.

So if FlyWf is an AlexM gimmick, that's okay- but what are the clues?

Should people be able to turn in their red letter Gs for prizes as an incentive for using honest gimmicks?

Just to be clear, spank, what you mean are "sockpuppets". Gimmicks are like chimpstare, a "gimmick account", as in an account whose username is itself a joke.

But I realize using words has never been a strong suit of yours

If anyone feels they must come clean about their gimmick use, this is a great fresh start opportunity. If FlyWf is a Low Key gimmick who are both sock puppets for Anais-that's alright. Gimmicks are just so easy to make. Everybody understands. :P

Technically, Fly's nit is correct, but no one doesn't say gimmick. I know Wookie once OTBKd a sick puppet I made and called it a gimmick. The differences are not black and white.

As for the OP, I think Dibs will agree with you, but I doubt the site owners are interested in implementing phone verification, and even that merely limits the number you can use. There's not really a practical way to stop it.

The real question on everybody's mind is who are the gimmicks who are gimmicks of other people's gimmicks? That is a prickly pickle to ponder.

The questions nobody wants to ask are what if there are no gimmicks? What if we are all gimmicks?

Dude, gimmicks are one of the top humor devices in unchained from my opinion. Playing mock werewolf is much funner here than in pog.

Your disdain for gimmicks is a little too creepy. Are you sure if we searched your internet files we would find no gimmicks? Touch your nose if you know the kind of burglaring we do not want to talk about.

If you just come clean about your creepy gimmicks you may be able to earn future prizes.

I evaded a ban with a gimmick once. Out in the open though, very obvious. Got 2 more days! Not my finest hour.

There's a difference between funny gimmicks and surreptitious aliases though. It's the latter I mind, and there are plenty in pog. A lot of those people have mental problems and identity issues ldo.

There's a Commodus gimmick in OOT who only has like 20 posts, but the 2 or 3 I've seen are Chimpstare X 100.

I actually know who Commodus is. But outing gimmicks and sockpuppets is generally frowned upon and has been (or was at one point) grounds for de-modding mods. So...

If "The State" won't help, the private volunteer sector must step up to the plate.

I mean, we all know Chimpstare is likely a primate who mastered image hosting and can probably learn sign language. Chimpstare should be in charge of the investigation.

ITT we should register for a Gimmick Challenge.

Those who sign up are tasked with creating a gimmick account that they have to post regularly with for a month. Posts have to include enough words that everyone involved has a chance at picking up tells and forming opinions of who the handler is.

After the month passes, we all vote on who the handler of each gimmick is. Loser (poster who was correctly matched with his/her gimmick the most) is banned for a week, or something generally undesirable happens to them.

Maybe gimmicks have to have a political theme? IDK about that caveat.
