I think this whole "creating toxic environment for women" thing is just aaaaaargggggh. Especially coming from people posting in a forum that has a toxic environment for everybody because of them.

Then I decided to make my point over several posts and with some stupid jokes and started the whole thing. Then I went to bed in the middle of it because it was already 3.00 AM, woke up this morning and thought that it was somewhat unfair to single Anais out. But because I promised him that I would never again just stop a conversation I responded to him a last time trying not to get into an argument I was not into the mood of having.

So yes, I was being avoidant in my last post, good for you for pointing it out. But you see, the whole explanation is just boring.

I happen to agree with you about this -- I remember one thread that essentially amounted to saying that the environment around women should be sanitized because women are unthinking sponges of negative messaging and social influence and thus the responsibility for the messaging lies entirely with the men.

Likewise I believe that the tweets made under #yesallwomen only illustrated yet more buy-in to the notion that the role of women is passive inaction in an active world -- female participation in society is measured by the extent to which they are victimized by it. The idea that you can be rude back and tell a rude man to go **** himself was simply a non-element in the stories.

During the discussion of drunk sex and rape an entire category of sexual experience was deleted (thus confining the range of acceptable sex for women to that had within the confines of a relationship).

That's not to say that I'm indifferent to the impact of micro-aggressions or actual aggressions, or that the expectation that women should recognize they are equipped to handle **** is the same as granting license to throw it at them. But well-intentioned philosophies commonly go overboard here in a way that I find extremely objectionable.
