Response to Bill Maher/ Sam Harris views on Islam/Muslims Response to Bill Maher/ Sam Harris views on Islam/Muslims

10-25-2014 , 05:40 PM
As the Bishop John Bryson Chane points out, we need to challenge the Anti Muslim views of folks like Robert Spencer, Pam Geller, Raymond Ibrahim., Bill Maher and Sam Harris.

I signed the following pledge, and I think others should sign it as well. Sign this pledge folks, it will be something that angers groups like ISIS,

Muslims are our fellow Americans,

They are part of the national fabric that holds our country together. They contribute to America in many ways, and deserve the same respect as any of us. I pledge to spread this message, and affirm our country’s principles of liberty and justice for all.

One way I do my part is by berating idiots who think so little of Muslims that they go to bat for policies that bastardize the name of Islam such as stoning homosexuals.

If you sign that pledge, you're just as big an idiot as Ben Affleck came across as on Real Time. Incapable of listening the rest of the sentence any time the word "Muslim" gets brought up.

Whenever someone tells me they are a religious and they are also below 40, I know some critical thinking skills are missing and a few screws are loose.

Get that pledge out of here.

Maybe ISIS will shame Muslims into abandoning their "faith", that would be good. You don't need to follow a religion of a child rapist ancient world mass murderer (Muhammad) to be a good person.

Tien,

Your views are those of a Nazi. But as Malcolm X put it, at least when X was in the south, he knew that folks would be racist to his face. Tien, you are a bigot and your not afraid to let folks know, your the same as those folks in the US south who were publicly racist in the 60s.

Your views are full of hatred but you can change your ways and sign the petition.

Would you sign a petition during the 1960s that said that blacks are equal to whites?

I cant believe that intellgent people can convince themselves that its ok to be critical of Muslims or to suggest that Islam is more of a threat then other religions. That is simply no different then the Nazi movement, which suggested that it was ok to be critical of Jews and their religion.

The responses itt from these 3 folks were not, well look we are critical of the Gov of certain Muslim nations but not Muslims. Instead the responses were pure garbage.

The responses itt are making me reconsider having kid on my ignore list. Too much hilarity.

Do you not see the problem with this statement?

I mean, you probably won't. But it will be obvious to anyone else who sees it.

Yeah I am a Nazi alright.

I won't be cutting off anyone's heads because they choose to follow the religion created by the mass murdering Mohammad.

My capstone class in undergrad was on the books of salman Rushdie. I have read pretty much every word he has published, then went on to study international relations for my masters degree. Have done multiple 30+ page papers on Islam.

I agree with people like Sam Harris and Bill maher on their views of Islam...I still side with Palestine, not Israel

Sam Harris is an idiot.

Tien, Your just another stupid bigot. As you view AQ as representing Islam. That would be like viewing terrorist Jews such as members of the JDL or other far right Zionists, as Representative of Jews in general.

TheKid: what percentage of Muslims do you think approve of the horrible things that others ITT are criticizing (stoning adulterers, killing apostates, etc)?
Btw, I thought you were parodying the Reza Alsans by calling everyone bigots and fascists.

Has anyone ITT watched the debate/interview by Cenk Uyger of Sam Harris? Its three hours long, but you can listen to it while driving or something. Its definitely thought-provoking.
10-26-2014 , 02:20 AM
Itt I learned that you should ignore bigots who call other people bigots.

So I guess I'll go back to ignoring the kid, as he has been shown to be a bigot.

Maybe more than you think.

I really wonder what percentage of those 40% were Muslim males.

Probably 80%.

Sharia law empowers uneducated, primitive males. Created by primitive men for primitive men.

Again you are attempting to supress any critique of Islam by equating it with antisemitism.

As long as people don't cross the line into prejudice against Muslims as a group I don't see a problem. A religion is a belief system. I can say what I like against communism or flat-eartherism so why does religion get a pass?

If I started a political party that advocated blatantly sexist and homophobic policies it would be rightly condemned. When Islam advocates the same thing we're supposed to just nod and smile? gmafb.

Thekid,

For a long time I thought that maybe you meant well. I thought maybe you were a kind person and trying to promote peace and respect. Now, thanks to unchained, I see that you were just trying to avoid getting banned.

A viewpoint from a radical Jewish extremist,

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Ar...1#.VE0iE_ldVAl

from Rabbi Steven Pruzansky,

The American President prefers speeches and golf to leading the free world to victory; he may lack the will, the temperament and the conviction to do so as well.

This Rabbi has similar views to those of Radical Muslims in AQ. The way to defeat ISIL is to support the Allied coalition, as opposed to what Rabbi Steven Pruzansky suggests.

Here is what the Rabbi said a few years back,

Following a blog post insulting the U.S. president and his supporters, members of Rabbi Steven Pruzansky's large Orthodox congregation in New Jersey circulated a petition taking him to task.

NEW YORK – A rabbi at of one of the largest Orthodox Jewish synagogues in the United States, known for his extreme right-wing views, has been chastised this week by prominent members of his community for a recent diatribe against United State President Barack Obama voters, in which he attacked him viciously and questioned the intelligence of those who had cast a ballot for him.

The new immigrants to the U.S. are primarily from the Third World and do not share the traditional American values that attracted immigrants in 19th and 20th centuries,” he wrote. “It is a different world, and a different America. Obama is part of that different America, knows it, and knows how to tap into it.”

http://www.haaretz.com/jewish-world/...emium-1.478303

This Rabbi guy is crazy if he thinks he is going to convince any significant portion of Americans to support his radical views.

Thankfully, it seems like this Rabbi is a rarity when it comes to Jews around the world, even the leaders from the Orthodox Jewish community in Teaneck, called out Rabbi Steven Pruzansky for his views.

Troll playbook tactic number two: ignore anyone talking to you and plow on with your bigotry
10-26-2014 , 12:42 PM
Kid, would be helpful if you highlighted a couple things that Maher etc said that you took particular offense to.
10-26-2014 , 12:46 PM
he already did: the word "muslim" followed at any point by anything critical whatsoever.

Critiquing religions is not allowed in his opinion, it is bigotry.
10-26-2014 , 12:59 PM
The distinctions between trolling, criticism, skepticism, and bigotry are topical.

Anyone who wants to opine on this topic should at least familiarize themselves with this:
