It's a great sentiment and I applaud the talk, but it's just talk until it passes the House and Senate and gets signed by the President. Somehow if Boehner and Obama weren't able to come together with The Gang of Eight and bang out a suitable immigration reform I have my doubts it will get done with this Congress.

Yeah good point. Also any kind of worker program could just become a mexican registry, and create another instance of institutional racism.

ETA: actually I just realized this is naive. He's invited families of victims of undocumented immigrants. There's no chance it will be anything like that. He's going to pull an "she started it, I finished it" and announce more deportations.

ETA 2: this is just his way of drumming up ratings.

Anecdotal, but perusal of the comments section of a certain white nationalist website Steve Bannon used to run confirms that a lot of people are quite upset about the potential for any kind of amnesty being given to immigrants.
