I exaggerated a bit. Point taken.

I disagree housing in major metro areas is affordable and I've read quite a bit to support that claim. You disagree, maybe we are looking with very different criteria in mind.

No, I said that unskilled workers shouldn't expect to be able to buy houses in thriving metropolitan cities. That's never been realistic.

More people are living in the city, but there're tons of other housing options available in the US that would fit well within the budgets of households with an income of 50-100k.

Post 7403, 7404, 7452, 7480, and those are just from this thread on the previous page. We get it, dude, you use Twitter. They are non-content posts that make no point and slow down everyone's browser. It's annoying and stupid.

When did you learn to "argue" like that? What point are you actually making? That there are people who dislike the president, a point which no one realizes so you take it upon yourself to educate the masses?

You literally act like a child posting in this manner. No one cares about Twitter, dude. It's a medium for idiots to express their worthless opinions that no rational people care about. I say that even for Trump, I don't care about his Tweets. I understand why he does it but I take time to read what's actually going on and I don't feel the need for his Tweets to "explain" what's going on to me.

Stop with the damn Tweets.

I really think we simply don't understand each other somehow. For example, I consider something like an electrician married to, say, a secretary as "middle class". Am I wrong in assuming something like that? I googled them and it seems like the mean salary for an electrician is 55k. The salary for a secretary is 24-35k, so let's call it 30. Is 85k a middle class income? That sounds somewhat reasonable, no?

Googling affordability in the cities I get returns like this:

https://www.wired.com/2016/12/year-h...ities-anymore/

THE MIDDLE CLASS CAN'T AFFORD TO LIVE IN CITIES ANYMORE

http://www.interest.com/mortgage/new...-unaffordable/

Interest.com Study: Big-city housing often unaffordable

http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/..._s_cities.html

Median rent prices have now crossed a basic affordability threshold for middle-income families in 90 cities across the U.S., the New York Times reports.

Am I being unreasonable here? I don't mean to beat this to death but articles like these, which I have been reading constantly for the last few years seem to be in line with what I'm experiencing personally. Are you saying that people just need to make different decisions and suck it up and live in the suburbs, far away from their jobs and commute? If that's what you're saying, then you have a point. I'm simply saying the younger people today are trending towards city-living, and that is becoming harder to afford.

No on both accounts, but please proceed freely.

The term "fake news" can be used to discredit the reputation of legitimate news sources.

What would make you think a single thing you've read since the middle of last year is anywhere close to good journalism?

I think at this point only a fool or a liar would think the media is portraying anything close to an accurate picture of what's going on in his administration.

Maybe people just like the taste of nothing-burgers?

Of course move out to the suburbs. Isn't that what most do when they want to start a family? Living in the city makes a lot more sense for middle income people when you're childless and have no responsibilities to anyone but yourself. Your priorities are completely different.

The commute isn't even that bad for most large cities. In toronto we have go trains that're very comfortable and even have wifi built in, that sweep out to the outskirts in all directions - and it takes about 45 minutes to get to the downtown core. If you branch out to the furthest reach, you're probably paying about 1/3 the price for a comparable property in the core.

Did you major in journalism? Did you take any classes in the subject growing up? Before you ask a question prove to me you can distinguish between good and bad journalism. Show your work. One of us majored in the subject and I'd definitely bet it wasn't you.

A lot of your bull**** is based on assumptions in subjects you have no experience in. You try entirely too hard to pass off your uninformed opinion as fact when you have no ****ing clue what you're talking about.

Once again loser why the **** are you here?

lol, there is zero question at all that 1930s wil would have been at the forefront of saying anything and everything necessary to support Adolf Hitler until the very end

Politics made easy: all my opponents are Nazis!

Such a ****ing childish point of view.
07-02-2017 , 08:48 PM
I didn't say wil is a Nazi, pay attention. That's called a "strawman", dip****.

He is just so enamored with the idea of a big strong authoritarian leader and is willing to mold whatever reality he sees fit to support that leader.

Lots of people would have been Nazis in the 30s who aren't Nazis today. I sure hope I wouldn't have been but I don't know for sure how I would have reacted, it's possible I would have.

But wil? lol, zero question at all there.

Have you even looked at your post in a mirror? Have you investigated the regime to insure it is not Nazi or Nazi-like?

What happens to your stroking of "genius" here when nazi-likes have shown up?

Are you standing on some sideline denying their boots are aimed for the neck while lies pour from their mouths?
07-02-2017 , 09:17 PM

I may be biased in my views on this topic, as I live in Philadelphia, the largest poor city in the United States (from what I've read). I see some really poor ass people every day, and it annoys me. Not that people are poor, because most of them are just wonderful people, just that there are so many of them living in such a rich country. I really wish it would be evened out a little more. The disparity is bad. I suspect it's actually worse than we realize.

That being said, there are many really poor people in cities, just as there are in the rural areas. Why do you think it's more prevalent in the red states?
https://www.google.com/#q=95+of+the+...orest+counties

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._United_States

^^^ Support for the "poorest counties" claim.

https://wallethub.com/edu/states-mos...vernment/2700/

^^^ 14 of the worst 17 counties when it comes to taking more than they give in terms of federal welfare dollars are red. None are "deep" blue other than maybe Oregon. Most of the 14 are deeply red with virtually all Republican elected officials. Several (Kentucky, West Virginia, Montana, and South Dakota) are almost all white, which undercuts the argument that all welfare goes to minorities.

http://247wallst.com/special-report/...st-states-4/2/

^^^ Richest and poorest states; red at the bottom, blue at the top.

There are plenty of poor people in cities, sure. It's not exclusive to rural hellholes. But the numbers show much of it is coming from sparsely populated conservative areas. And anecdotally? I live 8.5 miles from Times Square in a neighborhood of 75,000 people and I don't think I've ever met someone on welfare, and maybe seen someone homeless three or four times, at most. My precinct voted in favor of Hillary 92.5%-4.3%.
