The media will do anything and everything to try and make him look bad and he will rightfully fight back. He deserves the 100 day honeymoon to get started that every president ever has had. He deserves to get his cabinet confirmed.

Lets see how it plays out and give the guy a chance. An America first, pro business, pro growth country sounds pretty appealing to me and I want to see him succeed.

He had a chance to run an organized, complete turnover from the Obama administration and ****ed it up.

What are you talking about?

He had a chance to pick a cabinet that didn't consist of rich people who hated the departments they were put in charge of.

What's wrong with rich successful people who really know how the world works. Give me a business success over some academic egghead relying on theories any day of the week. I fully expect him to get 100% confirmations but the left is trying to stall things just to be annoying.

He had a chance to divest himself of his financial holdings so he wouldn't be in violation of laws and customs as soon as he took the oath.

He isn't in violation of any laws

He had the chance to not use the Whitehouse web page to advertise for his families businesses.

He isn't

He had a chance to reach out to those who oppose him during his inaugural speech and after the Women's March and instead chose to widen the gap.

He will, and those that oppose him can give him more than a day in office to see how it plays out. Prosperity is good for everyone

He had a chance to accept the numbers of people who watched him become President but decided to triple down spreading lies about those numbers. How many chances does this guy need before we can start to raise our hands and ask wtf?

The press made a big deal about his crowd being smaller when in fact total viewership (30+ million TV viewers to Obamas 20 million 4 years ago) It was a nitpick by the press
The press has treated him as nothing but a joke except since November it is 100% real.

Do you take the view that it's still a good thing if the USA gets an upside but at the expense of a much more significant downside for others?

What if it's even at the level of the richest counties being able to mitigate the impact of climate change while large numbers die in poor countries?
01-22-2017 , 09:12 PM
yes, mrbaseball is correct there. Amazing that America First is somehow controversial these days. If we're not looking out for ourselves, what the **** are we doing anyway. Every nation should look out for themselves.
01-22-2017 , 09:25 PM
"total viewship" LMAO. 1.5 million people AT THE INAUGURATION is what was claimed.

You don't give any of the media credit for retracting the MLK bust story so why should we give any credit to the change that has been made to the whitehouse.gov website? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.07fa64b3cf31

How many chances does he need to reach out? How many of those does he get to **** up before we stop waiting?

His hotel is paying rent to the government, which means he's renting from himself. Emoluments.

There is nothing wrong with hiring rich successful QUALIFIED people for his cabinet, it's just that he forgot the qualified part. Rick Perry didn't know what his department did before he was nominated for it. Carson is the dumbest smart person on the face of the earth.

He has 2 of positions filled that need congressional approval compared to 13 by W and 33 by Obama. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graph...cker/database/ We have no ambassadors in place. My guess is the only think keeping us from hearing more horror stories about un-filled positions is the total disdain his administration has of the media.

It's significantly better than America second.

Depends on who the others are and the degree. I understand there are complex diplomatic issues as well as economic ones when it comes to import/export taxation. I'll leave that to the experts but if it is better for the US I probably lean that way.

We can do what we can do but that isn't gonna make that Chinese air any cleaner. Once again it depends on degree as to what we can and can't do. I don't really see how we can or should try to influence this in other continents.

You don't thing a climate change treaty could ever help the world overall or you would be against any such treaty if it was at a small cost to the USA?

The problem with these questions is they are an oversimplification that results in a false premise. Its same same with the statement of putting america first is going to result in poor people from other countries dying. Take just one aspect of the complexity, and think about handing money or "aid" to a deeply flawed system, for example a dictatorship. Its just throwing on band aids that will be ripped off. Its an incredible waste of resources to pursue this. Its also the case that even when the geniuses in washington or somewhere in a lab coat have a solution, they dont. They have a theory that fails and that is incredibly wasteful in resources. That can be said for environmental goals also. Technology will prevail but these things take time. If people cant be patient for a decade to allow technology to become efficient then the world will suffer far more from the damage of incredibly inefficient sanctions

An extreme example is believing that solar roofs are the future of energy for both homes and transportation. Forcing everyone down that road today when its not ready would be an economic disaster that may actually result in more pollution. The same types of thinking can be applied to foreign affairs

Helping is good but having a grasp of reality before making those decisions is very important

What has happened recently to make you think Trump has any grasp of reality?

People underestimate Trump, laugh at him and whatnot. But hey, he did win the election! He has a good sense of people and what's going on, I think. He's not perfect, no one is. But I'll take him over Obama any ****ing day.
01-22-2017 , 11:57 PM
Ahh, you would have said that about any white guy.

Much cheaper to just stay here and wait for our new comrades to arrive.

I don't think that's correct. I think people can have valid arguments about the complexity or other problems that make it impossible to find workable solutions but that irrelevant unless the rich countries are willing to be net contributors to worldwide solution in the first place.

Um who cares how many people were at his inauguration? This is gutter politics driven by an ever increasing desperate media and those on the left.

I couldn't agree more. Amazing what petty lengths these people will resort to to try and besmirch every single ****ing thing Trump does. I just read a Slate article about his awful signature, lol wtf. I think most people see through it, I hope.
