Re: President Trump

Same NYT article above now updated w/ quote from Trump:

Quote:
Mr. Trump, in a telephone interview moments after the bill was pulled, blamed Democrats and predicted that they would seek a deal within a year after, he asserted, “Obamacare explodes” because of higher premiums. The president said he did not fault Mr. Ryan and said that he was pleased to move past his first legislative fight. He maintained that he was merely going along with the House bill.
LOL PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

"Not aligned" does not mean "diametrically opposed."

You have since shifted the goal posts 8-10 times, but that is what started this whole mess - not about some guy who was the head of some newspaper that you think he should be held personally responsible for.
No, I proved my original point and then I moved on to connect it to a larger point. That's called analysis. Not shifting goalposts.

Re: President Trump

Remember that when Trump talks about killing the EPA and their job-killing regulations etc etc, he's talking about allowing things like the subject of this long article: a neoprene plant in Louisiana that gives nearby residents an elevated risk of cancer 800 times the national average. This is some third-world **** that all Trump supporters are rooting for when they talk about killing the EPA and rolling back regulations.

Re: President Trump

The "lol" is that this tweet was written shortly before the bill was pulled, thus preventing a vote from taking place

Wow you guys aren't getting what Clizza was getting at but I'm not surprised.

Hint: Don't pull the bill and go on the record. Folks in Congress don't like to take votes that opponents can use against them in future campaigns.

Oh for sure, Cillizza's timeline has him telling people "GIVE ME A BREAK, THE SITUATION CHANGED" after they laughed him for that tweet because we don't get it, you do.

LOL adios

Wow just go read his columns, he isn't a TRUMP fan.

Latest Column Knocking TRUMP
Quote:
Donald Trump was elected in large part on one, loud promise: I know how to make deals these normal politicians don't.

Part of that mystique — as outlined in his best-selling book “The Art of the Deal” — is the willingness to call his rival's bluff, to put his cards on the table and ask everyone else to do the same.

That's what Trump did Thursday night after a postponement of the planned vote to begin the process of reforming the Affordable Care Act. House Republicans needed to put up or shut up, Trump insisted. Despite being told the votes simply weren't there, Trump pushed forward — arguing that it was now or never.

It was vintage Trump, taking a gamble no other typical politician would take: Force a vote on a massive part of your legislative agenda with an uncertain outcome.

Then Trump blinked.

Hours after Trump huddled with Speaker Paul D. Ryan at the White House, he told The Post's Bob Costa that he had decided congressional Republicans should pull the legislation. The votes simply weren't there, and the possibility of real embarrassment on the House floor existed.

Sure. But, Trump was elected as an outsider — someone who ran against the system. Why not force that system to go on the record with either their support or opposition?

Not all trump supporters are racist but just about all racist are trump supporters. Comparing the two parities on racism and pretending they are the same is way wrong.

Uhh yeah, I know? He was ready to go and congratulate Trump on doing at least one thing right and Trump still went and ****ed it up. It was hilarious, and it's still hilarious that you don't seem to get it.

Anyway, this came from alpha:

LOL you are making stuff up. No he wasn't actually. After about 3 scheduled votes previously with the Republicans pulling out he knew they wouldn't vote unless they knew it would pass. Anybody reading the article can see that. You were just ignorant about him being a person that doesn't like TRUMP. It is clear that he was mocking TRUMP and the Republicans for being gutless. Pretty much every column he writes is about TRUMP and pointing out that he's a fraud.

Do you think the Repubs should have gone on the record?

Generally speaking, they are. And when there isn't a single exception over 60 years it's not random coincidence. But thanks for playing.

Yeah, except for 3 of the 4 newsrooms I've worked for, one of which there was open rebellion of the editorial board's NIMBY policy on renewable infrastructure... You don't know what you're talking about.

When an editorial board takes a pro-business, pro-profit, socially conservative approach towards local development, regulation or progress... generally speaking, they aren't aligned with the sentiment in the newsroom.
