The White House is not like how Trump's had it in his negotiations. Much hinges on these relationships continuing to be fruitful. It's not as though Trump can just sour a relationship with the Brits and say, "oh good game, I'll just take my business somewhere else". His negotiation style doesn't cross-over as one might have hoped.

In his previous experience, his ego and his interests overlapped. He can't cope to new environments because he's just not that intelligent, and adapted well to New York, and making the world around him more like New York. His best bet is to move the White House to New York, LOL.
I mean, if a diplomat had a long conversation with Trump over China, he'd gladly tell you all the ways Beijing is wonderful, but it would be more wonderful if it were more like Trump Enterprises! And, there perhaps should be Trump Tea, etc. A fly on that wall would just assume drop dead in bordom.
