This is a great move by Trump, although I'll admit it could have been rolled out better.
How is it exaggerated to say "my grandparents from Iran can't get in and we can't take care of them?" Are you actually afraid of people showing compassion for others? You still haven't shown how these refugees are actually a threat.

How do you like me now?
I liked you better when you at least gave lip service to the principles that defined America. I guess they've already found those folks guilty? How many of these probes are honey traps the FBI is running entrap people into being terrorists? And what is up with that article and how fearful we've become of people in prison? It's pretty disheartening to hear state senators so fearful of people in prison they won't let the government incarcerate terrorists in their state.

By far the most stores are in the US.

The terrorists should all be held in Guantanamo Bay. Nobody wants them in regular prisons because they are able to recruit.

ISIS is based out of Syria. This is why Syria is banned.

And still no Syrian refugee has caused any problems in the US in the last 40 years.

It's exagerated because most, if not all of these people will eventually be allowed in. The administration will take it on a case by case bases. You could take the other side and tell the story of victims of terrorism.

What victims of terrorism? There has been no terrorism on US soil from these countries.

There are currently 14,000 Syrian refugees in the US. The Dems want 70,000 or more to come in. That could significantly change the dynamics of risk. You are focusing too much on what has happened up to now. It's important to recognize that the world has changed significantly. ISIS has expressed it's interest in infiltrating and taking advantage of the refuge program. They have already done so in Europe. Social media has made it easier for terrorists to recruit. Why bring in people who are susceptible to this indoctrination? Once these folks get to the US they are no longer kept track of.

I'd prefer to use our time and energy on helping our own people. I don't understand why we should even risk one bad guy slipping in. Terrorist and criminals depend on our need to be kind and giving. We can be kind and giving in other ways.

Re: President Trump

So weird to see the left clamoring to import these Syrian refugees. There's like 50 predominately muslim countries that are closer to Syria that would be much easier for refugees to acclimate to.

The left harbors violent thoughts, but they would rather act out these violent tendencies through a proxy (syrian refugees) under the guise of empathy and compassion.

That only works on brains that are unaware of what that is.

This is a pretty insane conspiracy theory you're pushing. Liberals are acting compassionate towards refugees because they want the refugees to come to America and blow up conservatives?

Or is this some kind of "white genocide" argument?

Either way: lol.

Re: President Trump

Not sure if it's that conspiratorial. The left sees all the problems that refugees cause en masse in Europe (rape, groping, thievery, welfare leaching) and they either consciously or subconsciously want to see the same scenario played out in their own country.

The overarching goal of the Hard Left is to destroy countries and remove all borders. If it takes terrorism and the other things you mentioned to make that happen, then they are ok with that.

I'm not sure if it's conspiratorial but it's definitely not PC to talk about the refugees that way and it's not allowed in this forum

Yeah, I realize it's not PC to talk about facts that hurt feels. I'm not a forum historian but I thought that was one of the reasons a separate politics forum was created.

Re: President Trump

The refugees are fine. The problem is terrorists posing as refugees and organizing together in this country. I don't know if that's sound (I'm guessing very few people do), but it seems valid enough to shut the doors on everyone temporarily until a better system is used.

It depends on the refugees.

We've brought up the example before, but again, why would Syrian Christians not want Syrian Muslims to come to the United States? Obviously race is not a part of the issue. So what is it?

All refugees are not equal, just as all cultures are not equal. To make these sweeping statements is borderline absurd.

It's not unchained anymore. If you want to make those sorts of claims about refugees the you need to be a lot more careful with your 'facts' and make the effort to avoid offence.

One thing you have illustrate well is that it's not about 'feels' but real harm. There's no doubt you are right that trumps ban and/or the support for it, is because of peoples perception about refugees and Muslims.

That's pretty absurd.

What would be the point of wanting more rape in your country? So there are more problems and...what happens? Liberals raise taxes or something?

You guys have consumed so much right wing bull**** propaganda that your whole idea of the left is this insane straw man that doesn't even make sense.

What's interesting is that the right wing is so consumed by hatred of Muslims and poor people that the very idea that someone would genuinely want to help Muslims or poor people is not a plausible motivation. You can't even imagine kindness and compassion as things that people actually believe in anymore.
