Re: President Trump

How do they change it to make it better for the Freedumb Caucus without losing more moderate Republicans. How do they change it to make it better for the more moderate Republicans without losing more Freedumb guys.

CBP in Trump's America! This sends a great signal to countries around the world whose citizens might ever make the mistake of thinking the Trump administration will thank them for their help.

More news in Trump's war against Afghan special immigrant visa holders: Federal court blocks Trump administration from deporting Afghan man who tried to come to the United States on a legal SIV

Quote:
Foydel said immigration authorities had held the 25-year-old for nearly 36 hours without providing access to a lawyer, during which time the government says he voluntarily withdrew his application for entry to the United States. The U.S. State Department revoked his visa, at the request of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Tuesday night, she said.

CBP officials declined to comment on the man’s case.
Quote:
The U.S. government created the SIV program for Iraqi and Afghan nationals in 2007 in an effort to provide an immigration opportunity to people in those two countries who helped the U.S. missions there, often as interpreters for U.S. troops and diplomats, and at great personal peril.

The SIV vetting process is extensive and requires approval by multiple government agencies, including the DHS.
Some applicants have gone into hiding to protect themselves while waiting years for approval to travel to the United States.

U.S. law stipulates that a successful Afghan SIV applicant must demonstrate Afghan citizenship or nationality, have been “employed by or on behalf of the United States Government in Afghanistan . . . for not less than one year” and have provided “faithful and valuable service to the United States Government.”
Trump admin continues to win hearts and minds by trying to keep people who risked their lives to help us from ever coming here

Republicans may be getting sick of Trump's clown car antics: Openly Testy, Republicans Reject the President’s Wiretap Claims

Quote:
In a striking repudiation, Republicans on Wednesday threatened subpoenas and vented openly about the lack of evidence behind President Trump’s tweet that President Barack Obama had wiretapped his phones in Trump Tower during the 2016 campaign.

The Republican chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Representative Devin Nunes of California, told reporters on Capitol Hill that “I don’t think there was an actual tap of Trump Tower” and that Mr. Trump, if taken literally, is simply “wrong.”

Jeff Sessions, the attorney general, said he had provided no information to Mr. Trump that might have formed the basis for the president’s claim.

And two Republican senators threatened to block Mr. Trump’s nominee for deputy attorney general until they get clarity from the F.B.I. about the accuracy of the president’s assertions. One of them vowed to issue subpoenas, if needed.

Based on the way the budget cuts are structured, the working poor are literally paying for the wall. And they're going to die early as a result.

But whatever. **** it, buy everyone in the united States a car, you convinced me.

Re: President Trump

On "poor people make bad decisions and falsely consider themselves victims": This article quotes a (paywalled) WSJ article titled "Steve Bannon and the Making of an Economic Nationalist":

Quote:
On Oct. 7, 2008, in the cramped TV room of his modest home here, Marty Bannon watched with alarm as plunging stock markets dragged down his shares of AT&T, the nest egg he built during a 50-year career at the company....As he toggled between TV stations, financial analysts warned of economic collapse and politicians in Washington seemed to mirror his own confusion. So he did the unthinkable. He sold.
Quote:
Marty Bannon says he lost more than $100,000 because he sold the shares for less than he paid for them. It was a decision he made without consulting a broker or his family....[On] Oct. 6, financial analyst Jim Cramer told “Today” show viewers to pull money from the stock market if they needed any cash for the next five years. Steve Bannon says the warning spooked his father.
So, to recap, we have...
- Steve Bannon's idiot father making a rather poor financial decision that cost him six figures because Jim Cramer told him to
- this poor financial decision of his father instilled an incredibly deep sense of victimhood into Steve Bannon that motivates him to this day

Re: President Trump

Our system of capitalism is set up directly to exploit and punish hard-working people like Marty Bannon. Maybe we need to completely rethink that instead of amping it up to 11.

Five Republican-appointed judges join a dissenting opinion that, while supporting Trump's legal argument, slams his attacks on the judiciary

It does no credit to the arguments of the parties to impugn the motives or the competence of the members of this court; ad hominem attacks are not a substitute for effective advocacy. Such personal attacks treat the court as though it were merely a political forum in which bargaining, compromise and even intimidation are acceptable principles. The courts of law must be more than that, or we are not governed by law at all.

"Steve Bannon's idiot father" This is discustingly disrespectful.

Do you know Marty Bannon?

You wish you had 100,000 to lose.

How much do you want to prop bet about my net worth being over/under 100k? I'll take the over.

Also I don't want to ignore this - you did exactly what I expected a typical Trumpkin to do by defending this guy's victimhood instead of pointing out the utter lack of personal responsibility that led to his predicament.

But please, please prop bet me lots of money on the above.

I'll take the under but you should not be posting this here. This has nothing to do with President Trump.

Fair, where should we discuss it? I'll happily move discussion elsewhere so we can hash out the amounts and terms of this bet.

(btw, LOL at posting "you wish you had 100k to lose" and then meekly declaring the subject off-topic when I call your bluff)

Re: President Trump

Seen enough to pretty much seal a classification of totalitarian by acts for the regime.

Thought experiment: If deceptively cruel nazis-types were to somehow take hold of the executive branch and try to get away with as much nazi-type revenge they could get away with on The United States of America and the people they think are inferior, what might that look like?
