Probably best you avoid the topic for now. That's up to you but if you don't show more respect then I'll be stepping in.

I'm not blaming the victim, you fool.

JiggyMac, that's way out of order. You're on a timeout from the forum - I'll let you know how long it is later

What a surprise that Jiggy shouts for months that liberals and "leftists" throw around terms like racist and Nazi too much and then he's in here posting like this.

I am curious. Obviously, all things would be best if racist Neo Nazis did not decide to throw a public protest.

But given that they Did, how could/should things have gone that would have had a better outcome. Basically, who screwed up allowing things escalate as far as they did?

Seems to me you're saying had the victim of a murder committed by Nazi not stood up for her beliefs she would still be alive.

Maybe you can try saying something like "had a Nazi not decided to drive a deadly weapon through a crowd of people the victim would still be alive."

The first one is victim blaming, the second is not.

Which was your position again?

Both groups had a legal right to be on the street that day.

Only one of those groups were literal fascists.

****ing stunning that here in Cheztopia a number of people find themselves on that side.

I'm not blaming the victims, I'm just saying the Nazis are on the streets and you should stay indoors or get killed. That's democracy!

It was a tragic event that could have been avoided. The victim is in no way at fault, but when you have two opposing groups violently confronting each other, unpredictable things happen unfortunately.

Antifa are not averse to a bit of violence apparently.

Antifa strategy varies depending on the individuals executing it.

BroadwaySushy, hey babe where ya from? What's so interesting about all this conflict in America to you?

Or perhaps not violently confront them.

Just the usual goading with an extra-torturous contradiction.

At least a month, I hope. It was only a slip on his part, going too far in a posting history of pushing the envelope wrt trolling.

I'm a citizen of the world, with a long-standing interest in things American.

And like I have said before, American politics affects everyone.

So you understand what the statue of Robert E. Lee represents, right?
08-13-2017 , 09:31 PM
Yep.

Any tragic event is plausibly avoidable in hindsight. Can You just stop with the narrative that pins everyone into 'violent groups'?

Not that it matters to any of these people, they want people like Heather Heyer dead, but the people who were run over were not confronting the Nazis directly. They were marching separately. That's why a crowd of anti-Nazis were run over as opposed to a crowd mixed up with fighting Nazis and anti-Nazis. That's why a completely non-violent activist was murdered.

Also, lol at violence being the only measure of morality. Neither Nazis nor Americans were non-violent in 1944, but they sure as hell were not morally equivalent.

He (JiggyMac) disparaged the murdered woman as being very stupid to have been there in that position, which resulted in her death at the hands of a Nazi-infatuated terrorist. Some statement about a Darwin award and a meme pic.
08-13-2017 , 09:35 PM
Here's a simple way to think about it. One person had a right to be where they were, the other person did not have the right to do what they did.

James Fields almost hit one of his own. There was a white nationalist type girl walking around through the group of protestors livestreaming and making snide remarks about multi-culturalism, and she was quite close to getting hit. The protestors were walking and chanting peacefully. I've linked the video earlier in the thread.
