They do have a theory of mind, but don't get much past that Piaget stage. They know liberals don't want to be associated with racists so they think this talk of Dems and slavery is a burn, but it's also a projection of what they really want. These people hate the George HW Bush Yale/Kennebunkport Republicans, but still want racial segregation. (WE hightailed it to the suburbs when a black person moved next door) If only the Dems were still the party it was in Andrew Jackson's day, they'd have a home.
