Yeah, no. Hitler was more puppet than puppeteer. US industrialists (and their bankers, and their lawyers) supported Hitler for their own ideological reasons, which were distinctly not socialistic.
Hitler's backers included the father of the Koch Brothers, who built the dictator an oil refinery in Hamburg and went on to found the far-right John Birch Society in the US. The Du Ponts, who controlled Du Pont chemicals and GM (and supplied the TEL fuel without which, according to Albert Speer, the Nazi war effort could never have been launched), sponsored far-right and anti-union movements in the US.

The US ambassador to Germany, William E. Dodd, stated in 1937 that in his view US industrialists played a large part in creating and sustaining the Fascist regimes in Germany and Italy. (And Spain, he might have added, though he didn't.)

During the war, the Reich government engaged in complex arrangements with its US backers to disguise their collaboration while allowing them to maintain control of their German operations and keep taking the profit. A remarkably detailed account of these shenanigans, in terms of Du Pont and GM, by Thomas DeBaggio, appeared in Penthouse, of all places, in 1976.
